Facebook is an absolute powerhouse in today’s society, but who in the world could have anticipated the sheer vastness of information being poured into the platform. 

Like the following videos discuss, the amount of information Facebook has access to is scary, and the fact that the company has been selling our data is much worse. The sheer impact Facebook has made in the world is incredibly daunting, and the number of users is absolutely incredible. 

Take a look and see for yourself. What would you have done if you were in Mark’s shoes? How would you react to the sheer impact you’ve made to the world? What would you have done differently?

Facebook owes its existence to the open web. If it didn't exist Facebook wouldn't have been possible. But instead of feeding it, the way a smart corporation maintains a natural resource on which it depends, they've done the predictable thing, they've exhausted it, polluted it, cut it off, left it to die. Google does it too, and together they are destroying the commons that serves as the incubator for new ideas, for new Facebooks and Googles, new literary forms, new ways of delivering news. #

I hate Facebook. I absolutely hate it. Why, you ask?

All of the people you know are on there. You friend everyone you know. So you have, say, 300 “friends”.

Yet only 1 to 50 of them (depending on how popular you are) actually like your posts.

Like, what are the 250-299 other people actually doing?

Do they hate you for some reason?

Do they not give a crap about you?

Are they seeing your posts but just decide that they’re too cool to like them?

Are they not on Facebook at all?

Do they think what you posted was stupid?

There’s another thing! All the adults and family members are on there, so you feel weird posting stuff that you like but might be considered inappropriate or weird by them. Like you just feel like you’ll be judged for posting anything out of the ordinary.

But now it’s a main form of communication and keeping in-touch, so...

I have 159 friends on Facebook but only 50 of them I would call my friends, and only 10 of them like my posts.

Who else feels pretty unsocial on some social medias?
