Travel tends to be the best teacher when it comes to unique ideas slanted toward the sub-culture of bikes. It's a fascinating journey when you have the right set of eyes for it. My photos tell the story of this underground tale and the idealistic feeling of a group riding together as one.

Project XYZ Post No 12

and the story goes on:

Some of my bike culture footage was only presented in three short movies at the Project Ride in Los Angeles. (http://ckewer.com/theProject/about.html)

The last Project Ride was in 2014. Individual cyclist portraits were taken against varied backdrops and made available to them for free. Movies comprised of photos and video depicting local bicycle culture were projected during at least one but usually two of the stops.

Now I am creating some videos that you can screen on the internet:

Project XYZ  Post No 13

"bike faction" Here is one that shows a bike ride in Portland, Oregon from this year. "Loud & Lit" It is now included in the series bike faction which started a while back.... To pay my respect, give the community a glimpse of my efforts and thank them at the same time I started "bike faction". Project XYZ Post 11

In order to get a macro perspective on my large archive of bike culture photos, I had 600 of them printed. I  pinned some of them up on a big 4 sq meter wall.  It is now a puzzle to be organized and pieced together, kinda like a Rubik's Cube.

The pool of material gets filtered into a worksheet, a database.Which is categorized by dates, locations and names of the rides.

Here is what it is telling me: I have documented over 330 group rides so far and counting from Los Angeles USA, San Diego USA, San Francisco USA, Seattle USA, Kansas City USA, Corvallis USA, Minnesota USA, Denver USA, Las Vegas Nevada, Düsseldorf Germany, Trier Germany, Victoria Canada, Portland USA …..

I still have to review tons of photos and video footage.

The Project XYZ: Post 10

Some riders where asking me where they can see all these photos I captured over the years. ... I  kept them all to my self .......because they were not ready to be shown at that time.

My large archive of work, literally thousands of images, much of which has never been seen or published before are now getting ready to be re-assesed.

Organized to a whole that reflects the feeling of riding a bike.

The Project XYZ: Post 09

Now including  #Pedalpalooza to my art project. Joined the ninth and last Bowie vs. Prince ride which took place on Saturday night, June 11th 2016 in Portland, Oregon and yes it was EPIC. Here in the picture #LillianKarabaic , who came up with the original idea in 2007 and has organized the ride each year. This is officially the final year of the Bowie vs. Prince ride.
