When I get over things, I Get Over them. Meanwhile, the rest of my family linger on bad events and recycle it in their heads over and over, and then are puzzled to the moon and back that I’ve already moved on...and think I’m in denial.
And they think I need therapy for it.....when THEY are the ones driving themselves nuts over something that I got over a few days ago. Yes, I was depressed pretty badly a week ago. But News Flash: That was a week ago. I’ve gotten past it, and I’ve got bigger issues to worry about now.
“Time-Sensitive Quest Received!”
I don’t have the TIME to hold onto the past when everyone and everything other than my mother, father, and (and to a degree) my aunt are demanding I break into a sprint towards my future and leave that emotional turmoil behind. That time period sucked, so I’m all too happy to do just that.
My mother, father, and aunt are demanding, on top of me moving out of my aunt’s house, that I go see a therapist. Um....I’m being kicked out of the house in two and a half months with no chosen destination yet, and in the meantime, I still have a 10-hours-a-day job that has been demanding lots of overtime days lately. I don’t have the Time, Energy, or Money, to do that or any real reason to go at all since I’ve slipped back into almost-no-emotion mode again. Over the years I’ve become less sensitive to things, and though events of extreme emotion still occasionally come, they vanish again just as quickly once they’re run their course. I guess I must be a mutant, because my mother in particular, just can’t seem to grasp that fact.
Unfortunately, my aunt has taken my father and mother’s side this time, and has ever-so-nonchalantly informed me that if I choose NOT to find a therapist to speak to, that she’ll kick me out not in two and a half months, but NEXT -F#CKING- WEEK instead.
Fine. You want me to go to a therapist and waste my more-precious-than-ever money and time on something I don’t need? I will. And I’ll sit on his/her client-couch, and read a book.
