Today we watched everyone's videos and gave each other feedback on the videos and what we think worked well, not so well and they could have done. I think this was a good way to get feedback as you get good ideas that you may never of thought of and get good criticism to help you improve your ideas and approach to things for next time.
Each individual from our group created something that we thought kids aged between 10-15 would find appealing. It ranged from a jellyfish game, storyboard, flipbook, puzzle, cards. We each used different social networks to get our stories and ideas across also such as Facebook, Vine, Wordpress and Tumblr. I think Tumblr was the most successful social network.
After finally being clear about what we were all doing we didn't have much time to create our ideas so therefore we didn't get to test what we had created on any audience which made it hard to know what to fix or add. I think if we had a clearer idea from the start it would've made things a lot easier on the whole of the group.
Overall I am pleased with our groups outcome I think what grew from our original idea was really cool and we all put in the same amount of effort. I personally think I should of re-read the brief a few times because I was procrastinating for days and was confused but in the last week and a half of the assignment everything suddenly clicked and came together.
I think that the main thing about our group was that we weren't always all here or posting enough on our chosen social media sites so it made it really difficult to communicate between eachother and make our stories link as we weren't to involved with each other to start off with. I think the last week we really came together as a team and produced a video I was pretty happy about. There were a few minor errors such as typos and cropping issues but I think for our group and how confused we were for so long that it was a really good effort.
I also like how different our idea/project in particular was to everyone elses in the class I felt since we were aiming it at people aged 10-15 we could get a bit crazy with out ideas. In saying that I think we went a bit overboard and ended up aiming our project and kids ages 5-10 and it seemed very childish once we looked over everything we had produced.
The feedback we got from other members of the class was actually really helpful and nice to hear. Most the criticism given were things I knew were wrong such as the idea in the video not being communicated enough, typos and the text being hard to read. I am very happy with the critique I think it's a very good way to get feedback in assignments and I think we should do that way of critiquing work more often.
I personally think I should of communicated with my group more so they knew where I was at and what I was doing but I think in the end the overall outcome was very successful and I'm pleased with my work and the groups work also.
Although I didn't enjoy the assignment as a whole I think the whole approach to the assignment was completely different which was a cool way to work. I would enjoy working like that again but maybe on something a bit different. I chose this particular group because it sounded like you could get creative and artsy but if I chose again I wouldn't choose the same group. I also would use my time wiser so that I could of created the cards I was going to create so I could get the public involved in my story so I could meet the briefs requirements of the assignment.
