Wake Me Up
Pairing: Sebastian Stan x Reader Warnings: uhh, language, but I think that’s it. A/N: Here’s a repost of one of my favorites from my old masterlist. Second part is queued up.
“I promise you’ll like him. I met him when I took an acting class in the city last year - he’s really sweet.” Your friend Piper promised as she scrawled out a phone number on the back of one of her business cards for you. “Piper, I just don’t think it’s a good idea for me to be texting strangers, you know?” You replied, scrunching your nose up at the numbers written on the small bit of paper that now lay in your hand. “Y/N, please. It’s about time you talked to a nice guy. Just give it a chance. If you’re not feeling it after a couple of days, just stop texting him. It’s not like I’m asking you to outright go on a date with the guy.” She began rambling and you held your palms up in defeat. “Alright, alright. I’ll text him. What’s his name?” “Sebastian.”
You held onto Sebastian’s number for a few days, nervous to talk to him, but also unsure of what to say. ‘Hi, this may seem creepy, but my friend gave me your number’ or maybe‘Hey, I promise I’m not a stalker, but Piper told me I should text you.’ You were never very good at initiating conversations. You were sitting at work when you finally plucked up the courage to shoot him a text.
‘Hi, is this Sebastian? Piper gave me your number..’
You let out a quick breath as you pressed send, your heart skipping a beat when the read receipt confirmed it as delivered. You quickly locked your phone, thrusting it into the pocket of your jeans as you went back to your clipboard, checking inventory for the third time this month. For some reason, the numbers just weren’t adding up. You’d suspected that your fairly new co-worker, George, was stealing, but you weren’t positive about that quite yet. You felt your phone buzz in your pocket and heat sprung up to the tips of your ears as you tried to calm your breathing. Is was probably just Piper, right? Confirming your dinner date at 8? Your phone buzzed again and you bit into your lip as you tried to pay attention to the numbers on the page in front of you. Focus on work, Y/N. That lasted for about two minutes, when your phone buzzed yet again. Pulling your phone out of your pocket, you were surprised to see that you had three messages from Sebastian.
‘Yeah, hi!’ ‘You must be Y/N. Piper told me a little about you.’ ‘I was starting to get worried that I wouldn’t hear from you.’
You smiled to yourself at how eager he seemed, trying to form the perfect reply in your head, when another message came through.
‘Did I scare you off already? :(’
You chuckled softly to yourself as you typed a quick reply.
‘No, not at all. I’m just at work, sorry! Piper didn’t tell me much about you, just your first name and that you’re nice. :)’
You shoved your phone back into your pocket, satisfied with your response. You found yourself nervous for his reply, but tried to shake it off. You didn’t even know the guy, there was no reason to get too excited yet, right? Your phone buzzed in your pocket at the same time the door alarm went off, signaling that someone had entered the store. You silently cursed before putting on your best smile and greeting your customer, putting the possibilities of the new message in the back of your mind. Forty five minutes and several pocket buzzes later, you were finally able to check your phone.
Piper: ‘hey, bitch. Did you text him yet?’ Piper: ‘I’m telling you, don’t sleep on this one. Text him.’ Piper: ‘NOW.’ Sebastian: ‘Oh, good! You can get to know me on your own, then. :)’ Piper: ‘Did you text him yet?!’ Sebastian: ‘Piper just told me that you were pretty, a dog lover aaaaaand a complete nerd.’ Piper: ‘I’m gonna text him and ask him if you did.’ Sebastian: ‘But i’d like to get to know you for myself, if that’s alright.’ Piper: ‘YOU DID! YOU LITTLE SLUT <3′
You rolled your eyes at your friend, replying to her with nothing but the middle finger emoji, before looking back at your conversation with Sebastian.
‘I’m an open book. You can pretty much ask me anything.”
You decided to reply, chewing on your lip as you set your phone down on your work desk, checking the time and seeing that it was just about closing time. Grabbing the red folder that your boss kept behind the counter, you began to fill out the nightly paperwork while you waited for the next few minutes to pass by. You were pulling your keys out of your purse to lock up when you felt the all too familiar sensation of your phone buzzing in your pocket. Quickly walking over and walking the door, you pulled your phone out and bit back the smile that formed on your lips when Sebastian’s name appeared on your screen.
‘Wanna play 20 questions?’
You wrote back almost immediately.
‘You go first.’
You finished your night paper work faster than ever before, that night. Pulling your phone out of your pocket once you had set the alarm and were standing outside of the store. He hadn’t replied yet, and you felt a small pang of sadness in your chest. Were you getting attached to him already? This was never a good sign. Sliding your phone into your purse, you promised yourself that you wouldn’t look at it again until you were home and changed into more comfortable clothes. You wouldn’t let yourself get too attached this time. Right?
The drive home seemed to take so much longer than usual. You practically ran to the door of your apartment, and then made a beeline straight for your bedroom to change, ignoring Piper speaking to you from her spot on the couch. “Y/N? Are you okay?” She asked, poking her head into your room just as you were pulling a soft, grey sweater over your head. “Yeah, Pipes, I’m fine. What’s up?” You wondered, turning to look at her in confusion. She bit into her cheek, shrugging. “You seemed to be in a rush or somethin’..” She mumbled and you had to hide your smile from her. “Nah, just really wanted to change into my PJs.” You replied, turning and fishing your phone out of your purse, smiling when you saw that he had replied.
‘Well, I guess my first question would be: how old are you?’ ‘Wait, shit.. Sorry, was that rude?’
You couldn’t suppress the giggle that appeared in your throat, catching Piper’s attention from the doorway. “What are you laughing about?” She asked, taking a few steps towards you. You quickly locked your phone, your eyes shifting nervously. “Oh, nothing. Just a cat meme.” You lied, and Piper narrowed her eyes at you in return. “A cat meme, my ass.” She mumbled before turning and walking out of your bedroom. You let out a small sigh before sitting on the edge of your bed and pulling out your phone to reply.
‘I’m 24. How old are you?’
You checked your emails and chewed on your chapped lips while you waited for his reply. What if you were too young for him? When his reply came a few moments later, you took a deep breath before opening it.
‘I’m 34. And that doesn’t count as a question, sweetheart.’
Your cheeks burned at the nickname he used, and your heart fluttered at his lack of a reaction towards your age. Did ten years not bother him? It took you a moment, but you eventually came up with a good question for him.
‘What type of music do you like? Be aware: this will greatly affect my opinion of you.’
You locked your phone, humming softly as you headed into your kitchen to see what Piper had ordered for dinner. “Chinese food again, Pipes?” You asked when you saw the array of take-out containers on the counter. She mumbled incoherently from the couch, her mouth stuffed with sweet and sour chicken. You smiled to yourself, grabbing a container of vegetable lo mein and a set of chopsticks before sitting on the couch beside her. “How was work?” She wondered through a mouthful of food. You shrugged, pulling your chopsticks apart so you could enjoy your food. “Just another day. You know, nothing too exciting.” You replied before spinning a mouthful of noodles around your chopsticks. “Have you been talking to Sebastian?” She asked, wiggling her eyebrows at you suggestively. You couldn’t stop yourself from rolling your eyes as you felt your face heat up. “A little.. not too much.. Pipes, you said you met him in an acting class.. is he an actor?” You asked her, slurping down your noodles. She adverted her gaze, chewing on her lip. “He made me promise not to answer any of your questions..” She said softly and your eyes widened a fraction. “Why..? He isn’t like.. famous or something, is he?” You prodded, but she didn’t budge, suddenly finding her chicken more interesting than you. “Oh, my god, he is, isn’t he? Piper! Why would you want him to talk to me?” You screeched, leaning forward to set the takeout box on the coffee table. She rolled her eyes at you, scoffing. “You make it sound like you’re the worst person on earth.” You shrugged, staring down at your hands. “Pipes.. I’m just an ordinary girl, okay? I don’t have anything to.. you know, offer him.” You replied softly and she let out a long sigh. “Y/N.. I don’t think you realize how special you are.. I’ve known you since we were kids.. Anyone would be lucky to have you.” She told you and you felt your eyes start to tear up. “Just.. Talk to him, please. He is honestly one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met, and the fame hasn’t gone to his head. Give him a chance.” Just then, you felt your phone buzz from under your thigh, and you pulled it up, seeing his name flash across the screen. “Is that him?” Piper wondered and you nodded, chewing on your lip. “Y/N.. You don’t have to marry the guy, or even meet him in person if you don’t want.. Just get to know him.. the realhim, before you decide to just write him off.” You opened up Sebastian’s message, sighing softly to yourself.
‘80s music mostly, but I’m a real big fan of Sinatra.’
You smiled before looking up at Piper, who was already smiling at you. “Just give him a chance, Y/N.” “I will.”
Hours turned to days, and days turned into weeks as you texted back and forth with Sebastian. Before you knew it, a month and a half had gone by, and you’d been talking every day. You learned that you two had more in common than you initially thought, and that Sebastian was quite a flirt. It was your day off after a 6 day work week, and you were sitting on the edge of your bed, leaning down to tie your running shoes when you felt your phone buzz longer than usual. You scrunched your nose in confusion as you fished your phone out of your pocket. Sebastian was calling you. You quickly cleared your throat and took a deep breath, trying to calm your nerves before answering the phone. “Uh, hello?” You squeaked, hearing a heart-warming chuckle from the other end of the line. “Did I scare you?” He wondered, and you couldn’t deny the butterflies that filled your stomach at the sound of his voice. “No, I uh.. I was just about to go for a run.” You said quickly, closing your eyes and letting out a long breath as he chuckled again. “I didn’t know you liked running.” His velvet voice spoke again, making your insides knot. “I um.. I usually like to go when I’m stressed.. Takes my mind off things, you know?” You babbled and he hummed in response. “What’s my favorite girl stressed about?” He asked, and you could hear papers shuffling in the background of the call. “Just work, you know. The usual.” You lied, not wanting him to know the real reason you couldn’t keep your thoughts straight - him. “Well, I have a surprise for you.” He spoke and you felt even more nervous. “W-What’s that?” You stammered, biting into your lip as you stood up from the bed. “I’m in town.” You almost dropped your phone in that moment. It must have taken you too long to respond, because he spoke your name, his voice laced with concern. “Hmm, what? Sorry, I spaced out for a minute.” Was your reply, your cheeks turning an all too familiar shade of scarlet. He laughed again, the sound, music to your ears. “I was wondering if you’d like to meet.. tonight?” He asked, and you could hear the hesitation in his voice. You took in a deep breath, steadying yourself before you answered. “Like.. face to face?” You practically whispered, earning another melodic laugh from him. “Yeah.. I think it’s about time, don’t you?” You stayed silent for a moment, your heart and breathing both erratic as you weighed the options in front of you. Were you ready for him to see you? “Y/N, I know you’re probably nervous, but I promise that you have no reason to be.. We’ve been chatting back and forth for almost two months now.. You’re not gonna scare me off.” He tried to be comforting, but the sound of your name leaving his lips only made you more anxious. “Please?” You let out a small sigh, nodding to yourself. “Okay. Yeah. Where did you want to meet?” You asked softly, and you could practically hear the smile in his voice as he spoke to you. “Is Piper still living in her old place? There’s a coffee shop a few blocks from there - The Daily Grind?” “Yeah, I actually live with her, now, so I know where that is.” You replied, your voice shaking slightly. “Awesome.. so we’ll say 6?” You looked down at your watch, seeing that it was already 4:30 and your chest tightened. “Yeah, I’ll just go on a run tomorrow morning.” “Alright.. I’ll see you at 6, then?” He clarified and you hummed softly. “Sebastian, how will I know its you?” You asked and he chuckled. “Text me when you get there, and I’ll come outside and meet you.. just do me a favor?” “Of course, anything.” You replied almost immediately. “Please don’t freak out.” His tone was almost… sad. “Oh, Seb..” You whispered, feeling your heart drop. “Promise me you wont?” He asked, using the same tone as before. “I promise.”
The next hour flew before your eyes and before you knew it, you were walking towards the Daily Grind, dressed in one of your favorite skirt and sweater combos. You’d put on a little bit of eyeliner and mascara, but not too much.. You didn’t want to overdo it, especially since you never wore much makeup to begin with. You were about a block away when your phone buzzed.
‘I’m here. Just sat down. How far away are you?’
You chewed your lip as you typed out your reply, your stomach doing flips.
‘I’m on my way.’
Your reply was simple, but you figured it would do the trick. As you got closer and closer to the shop, you grew more and more anxious. By the time you were standing in front of the shop, your hands were shaking. You stood in front of the giant window of the store, peeking around at the customers sitting in the booths before you pulled out your phone, texting him to let him know you had arrived. When you saw a man in a corner booth stand up, phone in hand and a smile on his gorgeous, chiseled face, your heart stopped beating for a moment. He was wearing a navy blue baseball cap and a baggy, grey hoodie, trying to hide, but you recognized him almost immediately. Sebastian was Sebastian Stan? As in the Sebastian Stan? Tj Hammond? Lance Tucker? Bucky Barnes? He was walking towards the door, shoving his phone into his jacket pocket, and you could feel your feet carrying you away from the store before you could stop yourself. As you turned around to walk in the opposite direction, you heard footsteps behind you, and then a familiar voice. “Y/N?”
Wake Me Up: 2
Pairing: Sebastian Stan x Reader Warnings: Maybe language and drinking? A/N:Here’s part two off my old masterlist. Enjoy it.
“Y/N?” You stopped in your tracks, but didn’t turn around, just closed your eyes and let out a small breath. Your entire body was shaking at this point. You could hear his footsteps approach you from behind, followed by his hand resting on the small of your back. “Y/N..?” He spoke again, his voice laced with uncertainty. You kept your eyes closed, forcing your lips into a thin line as you shook your head at him. “Piper warned me.. but I didn’t know it would be you.” You whispered, your voice faltering. His hand didn’t move from its spot on your back as he walked to stand in front of you, the toes of his shoes bumping against yours. “Are you disappointed?” He wondered softly, and your eyes snapped open in shock. “Am I disappointed? I think it should be me asking you that.” His piercing blue eyes met yours and you thought you might faint right then and there. “What are you talking about, Y/N?” He asked, a look of pure confusion on his face. You bit into your lip, feeling tears pooling at the edges of your eyes. You blinked them back, shaking your head as you stepped out of his hold. “I have to go.” You breathed, moving to walk past him. He didn’t try to stop you, but as you continued to walk towards your apartment, you could hear footsteps running after you. “Y/N! Wait!” He called, grabbing your hand and spinning you around to face him. Your forehead collided with his chin and you groaned at the contact, rubbing the spot that had been hit. “Sorry, I just..” He paused, biting into his lip as he looked down at you. You took his moment of hesitation as an opportunity to look him over. His face was clean shaven - as if he’d shaved just to meet with you. His eyes looked tired, dark circles surrounding them, and his lips were forming a small frown. “Is this over?” He asked, his voice barely above a whisper. You felt your heart drop at his words, realizing that you’d done exactly what you promised him you wouldn’t do - freak out. “Seb, I..” You took a deep breath as you felt the tears form in your eyes again. He noticed them this time, hesitantly bringing his hand up to wipe away a stray tear that has trickled out. “I’m not.. good enough for you.” You breathed, and his frown deepened. “What is that supposed to mean?” He wondered, moving his hand down to caress you cheek. It took everything in you not to melt into his touch. “Seb.. c’mon.. You know what I mean.” You said, closing your eyes to blink back your tears. “Piper never should have set us up. I mean, come on, you’re Sebastian Stan, and I’m just..” You stopped, motioning towards yourself. “I’m just me..” “Y/N.. In the past two months that we’ve been talking, have I ever given you a reason to think that you weren’t good enough for me?” He asked, his eyes scanning yours once you opened them back up. Your lower lip trembled as you shrugged. “Seb, this is different..” You crossed your arms over your chest, suddenly feeling more insecure around him. “How is it different? You’re still you, aren’t you? And I’m still me. I’m the same guy you’ve been talking to through text.” He tried to reason with you, but you shook your head. “But you’re not, Sebastian.. If I would have known, I..” You started, but he interrupted you. “What? you would’ve treated me differently? That’s exactly why I didn’t want you to know. I wanted you to get to know me, not the guy everyone thinks I am.” You swallowed, hard, chewing the inside of your cheek as you adverted your gaze from him. “Look.. I know its a lot to take in..” He paused, letting out a long sigh. “Do you need me to give you some space or something? I understand if you need it..” He dropped his gaze to the sidewalk, his lips pressed into a hard frown as he waited for your answer. You felt more guilty than you ever had in your entire life. “Seb..” You whispered and he slowly looked up at you, a sad smile gracing his face while his stormy blue eyes bored into yours. “I’m sorry.. I.. I promised I wouldn’t freak out and that’s exactly what I did.. I.. Can we start over?” You asked, pinching your lower lip between your teeth. His smile grew a bit, no longer sad, but hopeful, as he nodded slowly. “Yeah.. I’d like that.. You wanna get a drink or something?”
“So, do you make a habit out of running away from men?” Sebastian joked as he sat across from you in the booth, bringing his beer up to his lips and taking a small sip. You shrugged, swirling your martini in its glass as you tried not to smile too wide. “Hey, you’d run if you were in my position.” You replied, cocking your eyebrow at him. He thought about that for a moment, rubbing his chin. “Hmm.. I mean, I’m still considering it.” He chuckled and you rolled your eyes, swatting his hand from across the table. Your hand lingered on his for a moment longer than necessary and his eyes flickered down to where your skin connected, smiling softly. You pulled your hand back slowly, clearing your throat before taking a small sip of your drink. “So, how long are you in town for?” You wondered, folding your hands in front of you on the table. “Well, probably a few weeks. I’m staying with a friend while I do some filming.” You nodded, raising your eyebrows slightly. “Oh, wow. A few weeks, huh? Are you allowed to tell me what you’re filming?” You asked and he shook his head, a small smile on his lips. “I’m afraid I can’t. Top secret.” He teased and you giggled softly, biting into your lip. “So.. You never answered my question from earlier..” He murmured and you cocked your head to the side in confusion. “Are you disappointed?” He wondered, swallowing down the rest of his drink and motioning to the waitress that he wanted another. You took a deep breath, wringing your hands together on the table. “Disappointed? No.. Surprised… Intimidated, maybe? Yes.“ He chuckled softly, thanking the waitress as she set another bottle in front of him. “I’m just.. a complete dork, so.. I can’t believe you’ve stuck around is all.” He confessed, his cheeks turning a light pink color. You opened your mouth to reply to him when his phone started ringing. He pulled it out of his pocket, smiling at the screen before he answered it. “Hey, where are you?” He spoke, and you felt your stomach drop a bit. He was meeting someone else, too? He mouthed sorry to you before smiling anxiously and continuing his conversation. “Yeah, okay. So I’ll see you when you get here. Okay bye.” He hung up the phone before flashing you another nervous smile. “Sorry - that was the friend I’m staying with. She’s gonna meet us here.. is that okay?” He asked and you nodded slowly, forcing a smile. “Oh-Oh yeah, that’s fine!” He’s staying with a woman while he’s in town? Your stomach began to sink even lower as you took in a slow breath, adverting your gaze from him. “Hey, are you okay?” He asked, bringing your attention back to his crystal blue eyes. Forcing another smile, you nodded again. “Yeah, Seb… Actually, I’m not feeling too well all of a sudden..” You replied softly, letting your smile fall to a frown. His face suddenly became concerned as he leaned across the table, capturing one of your hands in his. “Is there anything I can do?” He spoke, eyes scanning your face in concern. You cleared your throat before slowly pulling your hand out of his, immediately missing the warmth it had brought you. “Oh, it’s okay.. Would you mind horribly if we cut this short? I think i need to lie down.” You all but whimpered, your true feelings starting to bubble at the surface. His eyes went sad as he nodded, looking down at where his empty hand was on the table. “Yeah, sure. No, if you’re feeling sick.. yeah, you should lie down.” He stammered, running his fingers through his hair. “Raincheck?” You offered, tilting your head to the side and forcing a small smile. “Yeah..” He replied with a tight smile. “Raincheck.”
When you arrived at home, there was no sign of Piper and you sighed happily. Finally alone. You had so much to process and wanted nothing more than to soak in the tub with a bath bomb from Lush and some candles burning. It only took you ten minutes to get your bath ready, and you grabbed your silk robe from your closet, feeling like spoiling yourself a little for once. As soon as you were settled in your bath and had dropped the large, pink bath bomb in the water, your phone began to ring. Piper. “Hey, bitch.” She spoke as soon as you answered the call. You rolled your eyes, humming softly. “What’s up, Pipes?” You murmured, closing your eyes and resting your head on the tub. “I went to a bar with a few of my friends tonight, and well… One of them is really drunk..” She paused, as if waiting for your reaction. “Are you asking me if its okay if we have company tonight?” You wondered, trying not to groan aloud. “Y/N, I promise, we’ll be quiet okay? Can you just get the spare pillow and blanket out of the hall closet and put them on the couch?” She practically begged and you sighed softly. “Yeah, yeah. Whatever. You’re lucky I love you.” You mumbled and she laughed. You could hear other people laughing in the background and bit into your lip. “I love you too. I’ll see you soon.” She said quickly, before hanging up. So much for solitude. You sat in the bath for about ten more minutes before you stood up, rinsing off and climbing out of the tub. After you dried off, you slipped your robe on and tied it, skipping down the hallway and grabbing the spare bedding for Piper. She did this sometimes - went out partying and brought one of her girlfriends back to stay here. She never liked the idea of her friends driving or walking home after they drank, and you didn’t blame her. You didn’t usually mind, as long as they were quiet after you went to bed. After setting the bedding on the couch, you made your way into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water, hearing Piper putting her key in the front door and then open it. “God, you’re heavy.” You heard her breathe as you opened the fridge. You could hear shuffling and then the door closing and locking. “Y/N?” Piper called to you from the living room, her voice strained. “Coming, Pipes!” You said, grabbing an extra bottle and hurrying into the living room. As you approached the back of the couch, looking at them both from behind, you couldn’t help but wonder why the girl she’d brought home was so tall - and had such dark, luscious hair. Piper looked over her shoulder at you from where she sat beside her friend on the couch, a tentative smile on her face. “Don’t get mad.” She pleaded softly, and you narrowed your eyes in confusion as you rounded the side of the couch, your jaw falling open when your eyes met Sebastian’s steely blue ones. “Hi, Y/N.” He spoke, his eyes traveling down your robe before coming back up to meet yours, a small, drunken smile on his lips. His eyes were glassed over, his hair was askew, and you couldn’t help but think of just how adorablehe looked in that moment. It took you a few moments to register that you weren’t wearing much clothing and you wrapped your arms around yourself tightly. “What’s going on?” You asked looking between the two of them. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you before, I just.. I didn’t think you’d mind..” Piper started and Sebastian chuckled, interrupting her. “Piper is the friend that I’m staying with while I’m in town.” He clarified and you furrowed your brows. “You.. You’re staying here?” You whispered, trying to process what he had just said. He nodded, letting out another tipsy giggle. Your eyes flickered back to Piper who was smiling at you apologetically. “I’m so sorry, Y/N.. I really didn’t think you’d mind.” You shook your head at her, forcing a smile. “No, it’s fine, really. Just surprised me is all.” You replied and she visibly relaxed. You held out one of your water bottles to Sebastian and he took it, his fingertips brushing yours in the process. “Are you still mad at me?” He whispered and you saw Piper stand up and leave the room out of the corner of your eye. Bitch. Sebastian’s lower lip formed a perfect pout as he grabbed your hand, pulling you forward until you were standing between his legs. “I know you were mad, and that’s why you left.” He continued, making you chuckle and shake your head. “Seb, you’re drunk.. You need to go to sleep.” You cooed, but he just shook his head, furrowing his brows at you. “You thought I was talking to another girl, didn’t you?” He mumbled, squeezing your hand before bringing it up to his lips, pressing a soft, sweet kiss to the top of it. Your heart stopped. “There’s just you.” He whispered, his eyes shining as he smiled up at you. You felt a blush work its way across your cheeks as he kissed your knuckles and you laughed nervously. “Seb, please.. Get some sleep. We can talk in the morning.” You tried to reason, but he wouldn’t budge. “Can.. Can we just hang out for a little while longer? Please?” He begged, squeezing your hand again. You felt your heart pick up its pace at the look on his face, and you realized you couldn’t tell this man no. “Yeah.. Yeah, of course.” The smile that lit up his face was almost blinding, making your heart beat wildly in your chest. What was this man doing to you?
