The party was promising to be the biggest event of the century. Every generation was ecstatic for so many different reasons. The elders were fascinated at the power of another group with pure magic, the matrons were delighted to have something of an alliance. Her sisters and all younger were just excited to meet real fairies--though, Chris was doing her best to downplay her excitement. They were just people after all. Just... a little fancier, she supposed?
She didn’t actually know. Or know what to expect when she came down the stairs of the grand house. Her, her sisters, her cousins, her mother, her aunts, and of course her grandmother, the Great Matron, were all to be most present, each bearing their pins of the silver branch. A coven welcome wagon. Wouldn’t that be fun!
The plan was to greet the new family, bring them into the grand hall for a massive feast, and then have a fucking party after. Steps One and Two were proving to be the most obnoxious so far as Chris fixed her dress for what was probably the fifth time that evening. She might’ve... grown up a bit more since the last time she wore this.
Finally, the guests of honor had arrived. The ornate doors opened in they stepped. Chris watched as her grandmother stepped forward in her sleek gown with a smile. “Lord Mayhew,” She said. “As Grand Matron, the Coven of the Silver Branch welcomes you and your family. We are truly honored by your arrival.” With that she bowed and the rest of the coven followed suit--even Chris, whose bow was testing the limits of her dress.
