Adani Power Strengthens Thermal power India Presence

CEA Coal Report Tracks Thermal power India Fuel Stocks

Exchange Prices Highlight Power market India Trends

On 21 July, the IEX day-ahead market averaged Rs 6,617.61/MWh, while prices remained at the Rs 10,000/MWh ceiling during overnight and evening trading before falling to Rs 1,617.91/MWh at midday as renewable generation surged. Despite the sharp price swings, the national grid met a 235,132 MW evening peak without any power shortage. The real-time market also recorded its highest weekly trading volume of 192.70 MU, reflecting active balancing of surplus daytime generation.

The market behaviour shows that electricity price volatility is increasingly driven by the timing of available generation rather than an overall shortage of supply.
