Power sector news: NTPC Expands Lara Thermal Power Capacity
Power sector news reports that NTPC has approved an investment of Rs 20,456.70 crore for Lara Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III, comprising two 800 MW supercritical units. The expansion will increase the Lara station's planned capacity to 3,200 MW in Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh. The announcement reinforces the importance of the NTPC project portfolio despite continued renewable energy growth.
The approved investment represents an estimated cost of approximately Rs 12.8 crore per MW based on the sanctioned amount and planned capacity. The project will utilise an existing thermal power site, which may help streamline execution compared with a completely new location.
The expansion is expected to generate demand for boilers, turbines, generators, electrical systems and other equipment supplied to large thermal projects. At the same time, the board approval is an investment sanction and not a commissioning timeline. Construction progress will depend on regulatory clearances, land, fuel linkage and execution.
Power sector news shows that NTPC continues investing in coal-based baseload capacity to support India's electricity demand. Thermal power plant tenders track CSPGCL’s contractor-led ash strategy
The latest development in Thermal power plant tenders comes from HTPS Korba West, where CSPGCL has floated a Rs 63.42 crore package focused on ash utilisation and land-development outcomes. The contract seeks development of a bidder-identified low-lying area or abandoned quarry using ash sourced from the generating station.
Unlike many conventional Thermal power plant tenders, the utility has not pre-selected the destination site. Instead, contractors must identify, assess and execute the utilisation strategy while meeting project requirements. This creates a different risk profile and may favour companies with established regional networks.
The package is relevant for stakeholders tracking Coal power projects and Ash handling plants because it links disposal requirements with productive site-development activity. Such structures are increasingly being explored as utilities face pressure to improve ash-utilisation performance.
Market participants monitoring Thermal power plant tenders will focus on transportation obligations, environmental approvals, land access considerations and commercial viability. These elements could significantly influence bidder participation and pricing strategies.
The HTPS initiative also reflects a broader industry movement toward utilisation-based contracting. Rather than treating disposal as a logistics exercise alone, utilities are seeking measurable development outcomes from ash-management programmes.
For companies active in Thermal power plant tenders, the opportunity provides a chance to demonstrate integrated execution capability. Bidder response will offer insights into how the market values contractor-led site identification and long-term utilisation solutions.
As one of the notable Thermal power plant tenders currently open, the package is expected to attract specialised interest across the thermal generation ecosystem.

On Sept. 28, while Russia attacked Ukraine with almost 500 drones and over 40 missiles, strikes by Ukrainian HIMARS caused significant power outages in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast. 🇺🇦😥❤️🩹💙💛👏🙏🇺🇦
#Repost @kyivindependent_official with @use.repost_ . . . At least four people, including a 12-year-old girl, were killed and over 70 were injured in the latest overnight mass Russian missile and drone attack, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported on Sept. 28.
The attack lasted for over 12 hours, and Russia launched almost 500 drones and over 40 missiles, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky. Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia have reported the heaviest damage from the attack thus far.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast Governor Ivan Fedorov reported that at least 38 people have been injured, among them three children.
The three children have been hospitalized and two of them are in serious condition, according to Fedorov – one from mine exposion injuries and the second from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Throughout the night, swarms of Shahed-style drones also threatened a number of Ukrainian regions. Explosions were reported in Kyiv, Kyiv Oblast, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, and Sumy.

Thermal Power Plant
Thermal Power Plant Complex thermal power plant equipment: Assembling is a lucrative deal Assembling a complex thermal power plant equipment like a new-tech condenser, even when all parts are supplied, and then put it all together at a thermal power station can be a lucrative proposition And it looks like the competition is limited There is scope for entry of new competitors, for the money is good
