A closer look at a whole new different modification for Parasaurolophus, based off of the myth that it breathed fire.

This version utilizes Thermoacoustics, in which if a specific frequency resonates with it's container, it will actually change the temperature (higher on the edges, colder in the center). In this case, the center of the container is the base of the crest, while the edges are the outlets of the mouth and it's back, inspired by my recent discovery of the Ruben's Tube.

This will not only allow the Parasaurolophus to be able to breath fire (with the help of flammable gases added to it's chest cavity) but will also have a variable size of the flames on it's back for self defense (and will also look very interesting as it changes w/ frequency).

An additional note is that once the specific frequency is changed, the temperature would stabilize and the fire would go out. Interestingly enough, sound also is an excellent way of putting out fires, so they can be utilized as "fire extinguishers" as well.

Worked on one of my parasaurolophus with a 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 adjustment. I think she likes it.

Did you know that sound can freeze things? Thermoacoustics studies the use of sound for heat transport. When air is compressed, it heats up, and when it is decompressed it cools down. By compressing air in one location, moving the air and decompressing it in another location with sound, heat can be transported, in a process not unlike a traditional Stirling Engine. To prove the commercial viability of this technology, Ben and Jerry’s commissioned a thermoacoustic freezer for their Manhattan location. Built by researchers at Penn State, the freezer kept ice cream chilled, with only a slight hum heard outside, despite the incredible 195 dB contained within. And unlike traditional refrigerators that require dangerous fluorocarbons to operate, this freezers works using only inert gases like Helium and Xenon that are safe for the environment! The effect that creates a Rijke tube doesn't only happen in physics demonstrations, it also drives acoustic instabilities in combustion chambers. T. Poinsot has a great video demonstrating this for a class of  students. The powerful pressure waves from thermoacoustic instability can tear a machine apart or otherwise cause serious damage. Computer simulations of this effect are simply hypnotizing, with the fluid mixing creating large eddies of hot air that suppress the flow of fuel and ultimately creates the pressure waves that emanate from the chamber.  (Gif from cerfacs E-learning resource from cerfacs)
