This beautiful gown was designed by Alexandra Byrne for the 1998 film 𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒉, where it was worn by one of Elizabeth’s ladies-in-waiting. In 2000, it reappeared in 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒐𝒚𝒂𝒍 𝑫𝒊𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔: 𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒉 𝑰 – 𝑹𝒆𝒅 𝑹𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑯𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒖𝒅𝒐𝒓, worn by Susan Sheridan as a character referred to as Jane the Bald—likely based on the historical Jane Foole, the court fool who served both Mary and Katherine Parr and may appear in the painting 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒚 𝑽𝑰𝑰𝑰. This production also gives us the only clear look at the subtle pattern on the gown’s blue skirt. Its most recent sighting was on a party guest in 2023’s 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒕 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑺𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕.
