It wasn’t very often that the library got new books before he started getting out more - typically, whatever came in before was either donation based or whatever he could acquire with his own money and have shipped out. Feeling a strange surge of duty towards the building that had sheltered him during difficult times, however, he had sought to do right by it and get the Royal Ibis licensed as part of some sort of proper, recognized co-op. If he was getting an update, it only made sense that the collection should too.
And ‘updated’ it certainly was. Though the acceptance process had proved a bit cumbersome, it was immensely satisfying once he had entered the exchange properly and received about three new boxes of fresh content for his trouble. It was a little like the holiday season, almost - a good portion of their new stock had been made up of recent releases from authors even he hadn’t seen before. He was sort of tempted just to completely shut down the library for a few days just so he could horde them all and read through everything himself, but, well... new year, new him and all.
Well, that, and City Hall had gotten on his ass the last time he’d done that. He’d have to be good and content himself with reading the synopses of each while he labeled them for now. He’d gotten about halfway through the second box of goodies before he heard the door jingle to alert him to someone’s entry. Cinna blinked, poking his head up behind the little fortress he’d made around himself of new arrivals sorted into piles to see who it was.
“...Ah. Hello, Doctor.”
Pushing himself back from the table, he’d moved to stand, gingerly placing the book he’d just finished labeling into the appropriate pile.
“Were you looking for something particular today?”
