Empty Streets
Sometimes I walk these streets
and see others go about their days.
Faces lost in back alley memories
to be forgotten the moment they leave my eyes.
Sometimes I walk these streets
and wonder how many I’ll see for the last time,
Lives unknown to me like ocean depths
as I only glimpse below the ever changing surface.
Sometimes I wish for their well being,
these faces that I might never see again.
And so each day I walk these empty streets
knowing that one day I’ll never walk them again.
And nobody will even know I’m gone.
