Why are people so hellbent on portraying Øystein as this manipulative evil mastermind, when he was just a guy? Where did this narrative even come from?
From Varg's, Necrobutcher's and Hellhammer's joined forces.
Then subsequently, from every little cunt who was told no by Øystein, and who after his death suddenly gained wings.
Other people have just continued to regurgitate those stories and embellish them with their own. So here we are.
(and of course it was in Necrobutcher's and Hellhammer's interest to lie about Øystein and also Øystein's and Pelle's relationship, because that's how they are covering up a very uncomfortable fact that Necrobutcher pretty much quit Mayhem while Pelle was alive and Hellhammer was about to be kicked out of the band by Øystein)
