In this episode, we look at Leonard Cohen’s least popular album Death Of A Ladies’ Man, which was his first and last musical collaboration with the infamous Phil Spector.  

Fans and critics were divided about its merits, and many felt the pair were mismatched from the outset.  The album was also perceived as Cohen’s failed attempt to court mainstream success.   This podcast will focus on the tensions between Cohen and Spector, especially during post-production, the album’s commercial performance, and its broader status within Cohen’s esteemed discography.  The songs will also be discussed both in terms of their musical and lyrical content.

This episode we look at the 1986 Judus Priest album Turbo.  Initially planned as a double album called Twin Turbos, it was later paired down into a single, more “commercial” release. Turbo divided long time fans at the time of release and still remains controversial today.

We discuss albums production history, the scrapped Twin Turbos concept album, the reaction by their fan base and whether the album deserves it criticisms.
