She was also the first woman named to a senior management position with the American national YMCA. Violet spent several years in Calgary as a lawyer and often addressed issues of racism and inequality. She moved to Ottawa to work for the federal Citizenship and Immigration department, and then eventually moved to the United States where she worked for the YMCA. She shattered glass ceilings and broke down colour barriers to pave the way for future generations. Her hard work and drive to excel in all facets of her career are an inspiration for those who also aspire to do great things in their field.
