You mentioned in the last ask that Vasco would be kind of wannabe cowboy... Would modern Vasco own horses? Does canon Vasco own horses?
Renaissance Vasco owns horses, yes! Any nobleman worth their salt gets trained in horseback riding, but he's also a genuinely skilled equestrian and gets along with them well. Horses are one of his main interests. I tend to visualize his favorite horse as a dapple grey Andalusian. It's also possible Machete has gifted him a horse at some point, as a diplomatic offering from one statesman to another.
I've been toying with the idea of modern Vasco's family being horse people, maybe his parents own a stable. Maybe one of his sisters does dressage and does modestly well in competitions (the other twin sister being a professional cellist).
Machete is afraid of horses. They're big and fast and unpredictable and can kick and bite and stomp on you. He can usually travel by carriage without issues (even better if it's a proper coach so there's some kind of physical and visual barrier between him and the horses) but I don't think he'd willingly get within touching distance if it were up to him. Vasco's horse propaganda eventually warms him up a bit, but he's still much happier just observing (and admiring, longingly) from a respectful distance.
