The Princess and the Stable Boy || thesexybex
Beacon Hills was just that - a beacon on a hill. It stood in the centre of three kingdoms, and when there was a crisis, a flame would be lit on all the towers around Beacon Hills, alerting the kingdoms surrounding it.
It was a well-fortified town, with a tall castle right in the middle of it, home to the Mikaelsons of Beacon Hills. They took care of their people fairly well, and there was peace in the town.
But of course, no matter how well-off a town was, there would always be the poor. Isaac Lahey had been among them. Had been, because he had found work in the castle as a stable boy and was earning more than he would have, had he been apprenticed at anywhere else. It was a nice life, an idyllic one, and Isaac liked the horses. And Isaac also got to see the Mikaelsons, and talk to them, something that few in the castle got the chance to. And they were nice to him, because he was nice to their horses.
Which was just one in a long list of many reasons why Isaac could never tell anyone that he admired Princess Rebekah.
No one knew that Isaac had a special fondness for her horse, and took just a little bit extra care of her. Heading over to the stables from the servants' kitchen, Isaac pulled out an apple and made his way to Rebekah's horse, smiling. Stroking down her mane, he held the apple out to her, smiling wide as she sniffed at it, then bit out of it. "There's a good girl," he said softly, looking the horse over.
