With what she knew may very well be her final breath, she pulled back on the bowstring and loosed the arrow straight up into the sky- a signal flare, a last hope for survival. She closed her eyes as the thrall dragged her down, screaming and clawing at her armor, and she quietly prayed the light would send someone, anyone, to pull her from death’s grip.
It’s not very often I get to do commission work for my friends, so when @nightpiercer asked me to draw Joan with her bow on the moon (especially Joan, who has come to mean so much to many of the members of Daybreak), I knew I had to do a piece worthy of her resolve.
It took so long to work up the courage to even start this, longer than I care to admit- I’ve been in an art slump and I haven’t done anything of this calibur since college, but now that I’m done I’m been reminded of what I’m capable of as an artist and why I should never hesitate to try, even if it a two year depressive slump tries to get in my way.
@nightpiercer , thank you for your patience, your friendship, and your support- you’re one of my best friends in this life and I really wouldn’t have made it through the last two years without you. I hope the work put into this piece will make up for the wait, and I am going to color this when I have the time.
