『  ⚚  』 “‘People with weakness get killed by the people who lack them.’” Pale lips paused in their reading of the open book before they tightly pursed together. In a world where it was kill or be killed, there was little room available for sympathy and kindness--the strongest of Evan’s qualities. He could not find it in himself to be powerful, to possess strength in order to become better, to fill in the gap left behind. To achieve power would mean to abandon everything he was--and the strawberry blonde simply could not do that.

       At least, that was what his past self once believed.

       Azure hues redirected towards the door, their owner pausing in his perusal over the scattered contents on his mahogany desk to fixate his attention towards the room’s other occupant. “Is that why you and the others maintain such a powerful front?” Evan queried, surreptitiously pushing his stack of scattered papers over the open tome on his desk to conceal the aged pages. “Because you’re all still standing.” His left hand reached towards his right sleeve, gently tugging it downward as he made to cross his arms over his chest.

       “Aren’t you, Shade?”

Luminous didn’t particularly warm up to Shade in the slightest, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t curious about him. The mercenary had spoke of Freud more than once, however, Luminous had never heard Freud even so much as talk about meeting someone like Shade. Freud was very reserved but Luminous would have figured he would have mentioned him to someone.

The mage wasn’t very sure how to approach the other, considering he was quiet and he kept to himself most of the time. Luminous grumbled under his breath as he attempted to approach the other. That was before he stopped and retreated out of the mercenaries sight once again. He wasn’t one to start conversations and a matter of fact he had no clue how.

However his interest was piqued and he’d like to learn more about the other. Luminous grumbled as he finally approached the other 

“Shade? That’s your name isn’t it?”

The mage was forcing a smile due to his nervousness 

Luminous wasn’t sure what to even say next, this probably was a bad idea after all. He decided not to bring up Freud. There was a possibility something had happened to the two. The last time he had dug up someone’s past he had to sit there, uninterested, listening to Phantom weep for two hours about Aria.

“So.....” Luminous started “You seem very reserved, is there a reason for that?”

What a dull question, Luminous already wanted to flee in fear of having an awkward conversation.
