lil’ fellas!!! in foil!!! the reason that i chose to cover them in foil is because they were so soft and cuddly, and i wanted to make something that seemed so comforting and sweet into something that was uncomfortable. tin foil is mundane, it’s sharp, it’s expendable. it’s the complete opposite of what your prized teddy bear is to you. i like the contrast, and for a last minute fix, i think it went pretty swell.
I wanted this work to embodied elements of the sacred feminin in regards to emelemts in the original object I used. So I added clouds to highen atributions to the moon and plants as attributes to nature. Both symbols that have been associated to the sacred feminine. The more I look at it the more it kinda reminds me of a madona, I think it would’ve been cool if I added a blue semi transparent fabric framning the cream fabric so that it echoes the Virgin Mary. In retrospect I would have also liked to add crystals, maybe moonstones, and candles to further explore my theme.
