🌪️Sum up a WIP with a few fic tropes/Ao3 tags.

☔Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?

*cracks knuckles* Ok so! Luxu has been taking vessels by removing his heart and putting it inside other people's bodies, right? But then he loses his heart and becomes a Nobody.

So here's my Heartless!Luxu fic idea that I may never write: there is a powerful Heartless running around with Luxu’s original appearance, Braig’s personality, and absolutely zero context for the Organization and second Keyblade War.

(this idea could be altered where he's in the background influencing events from RG's fall to KH3, but since this is a self indulgent crack idea, I think it would be funnier to have Heartless!Luxu (hereby known as just "Luxu") dumped into the KH3 aftermath with no knowledge of anything that's happened since becoming a Heartless. He can be stuck in the Realm of Darkness in the meantime, idk)

In order for this to work with some veneer of plausibility, Xigbar faked both his death in KH2 and his subsequent Nobody-ification again before KH3. He knows he has a Heartless but is blissfully unaware that retained it's memories and identity à la Ansem

Luxu knows what Nobodies are bc of Terranort's experiments but he has no idea powerful ones can retain their human appearances and memories. The revelation is in the middle of some confrontation between him and one of the apprentices (Ienzo feels like a good choice, I think he'd be least hostile in the situation. The others would be Fucking Pissed)

Ienzo: "Oh, you're Xigbar's Heartless."

Luxu: "I don't know who the fuck that is!"

Ienzo explains and Luxu has to sit down and process this for a little while.

Heartless and Nobody meet each other at some point and resent each other so much yet neither wants to die so that og!Luxu can be recompleted

Also include "Braig took care of Vanitas pre-BBS when Xehanort wasn't training him" headcanon and add some Luxu and Vanitas bonding over being the darkness torn out of somebody else

Tentative title: Luxu and the No Good, Horrible, Very Bad Everything

Random scenarios with Heartless!Luxu live in my brain with no plot so I have no idea where to go with this but I desperately want to write something for it

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them

I feel like almost every HL character except Gordon and Barney could be considered "unpopular" in some sections of fandom and that is fucking tragic. That said, I know I've been guilty of some one-dimensional Dr. Magnusson characterization in the past, but he's really starting to grow on me. He's kind of an ass in canon, but he's also hilarious, and I like to think he's a good guy underneath his prickly exterior. The vortigaunts (or at least Uriah) seem to think he's okay, so that should count for something. Perhaps he's Like That because petty workplace bickering reminds him of simpler times? Or he's just very goal-driven and understandably stressed when we meet him? He's interesting, and there's so much room to flesh out his backstory in a way that could still mesh with canon.

Every day, I hunger for gen pre-rescas content. There's nothing wrong with shippy fan content. I've certainly produced my fair share of it. But I go fucking crazy for well-written slice-of-life stuff that delves into how fucked up Black Mesa was, or how non-protagonist characters interacted with each other before everything went to shit. If you also like this kind of content, check out Sionnan's HL fics. I'm sure there are other authors and artists doing the Lord's work, but their name is the first that comes to mind.

21. part of canon you think is overhyped

Barney and Gordon's reunion at the beginning of Half Life 2. It ain't that deep, y'all. Stop trying to find subtext. Stop trying to add subtext. Accept that it's a mundane but relatively realistic scene and find something else to write about.

Congrats on being right this whole time re: the identity of "Darkness"

Well I actually could still be wrong! I think there are two possibilities: either Ava is disguised as Darkness (my theory) OR that Darkness disguised as Ava.

I still think its the former PERSONALLY just because Darkness knows everything that Ava knows about her role, the dandelions memories, indepth knowledge of the Daybreak town tower which is the foretellers headquaters, etc. BUT I can’t deny that Darkness disguising as Ava is still a real possibility

Since you've been digging into the DDD lore: is it canon or fanon that the method of time travel established in DDD only lets you travel backwards in time but not forwards? I've been looking for a cutscene where it's stated, but no luck.

So I think people get that from Young Xehanort saying “Upon arrival, you can only move forward as per the laws of time.” (he says this in DDD’s climax when Riku is in The Room Where Nothing Gathers) but I think people really misinterpreted that, because people time travel forward in BOTH DDD AND KH3 (and we’re about to see in KHUX).

I think what Young Xehanort meant was that you can’t pull an Adam Sandler in Click and PAUSE time. When you arrive after time traveling, TIME will still move forward. People move around, flowers grow, the sun sets, etc. This interpretation of the rule still holds up, because we’ve never seen someone literally stop time and walk around with everything frozen like some fucking Quicksilver scene lmao. Xehanort DOES yell “TIME STOP” in his DDD battle (and maybe remind battle? idk) however clearly time does not actually stop or else Riku and his dream eaters would freeze in place.

However, I can’t stop the wildfire that is this misinterpretation. We’ll always find another person who says “but you can’t time travel forward” even though it’s CLEARLY happened MULTIPLE times in KH lmao. People just spread what they hear without looking into it, so good on ya for checking it out yourself!!

With every passing update, your "Ava is Darkness" theory looks more and more plausible.

Pretty cool! I still don’t want to put ALL my eggs in one basket, just cause I’m opened minded for if the case ends up being someone else haha!

I think the huge amount of negativity for KH3 is mostly coming from people who aren't as familiar with the series who just got swept up in the Modern Gaming Hypecycle(tm). Sure there are fans of the series with valid complains, but a lot of the negative backlash has been newcomers who got swept up in the excitement of the trailers and the established fandom raising their expectations to impossible levels, which then come crashing down when KH3 turns out to be a KH game, warts and all. (1/2)

(2/2) And with the modern Internet culture being the way it is, you can't just dislike or be disappointed by something, you have to hate it like it killed your entire family. KH3 negativity from fans of the series seems more like disappointment rather than burning hatred; it's the people who've never given the series a fair shake or walked in expecting something totally different and blame that on the game rather than themselves who are causing the toxic levels of negativity.

I'm just saying that it's interesting as the driving motivation for an antagonist, but hard to write in a way that connects with the audience. Like if you asked people who had seen the film "what was the main bad guy's motivation?" I bet like 5% of people could tell you. "I want to create a world with no death" is just such an outlandish concept for a general audience to connect to.

That’s a fair point, though I often end up memorizing villain motivations if they differ from ‘none at all’ or misplaced ‘revenge’. But yeah it’s definitely in the unsual pile of reasons to become ‘evil’ and is hardly relatable on a grand scale.
