Centre spread from my Masters project 2010. The picture on the left I took on a beach in Costa Rica, the picture on the right was in London as I was travelling back from Heathrow after leaving the beach after 3 months. The riff I was exploring in the chapter was that of interconnectednes, a broken consumption model, ecological illiteracy and the role of the economic and commercial narrative in maintaining this separation. Can you imagine a world where human economic systems are in harmony with natural ecosystems ? It feels like there is an awakening happening. Many moons ago I used to run a show on one of the first internet radio stations in the UK - Space.FM - I’d interview interesting folks on the edges of the electronic music scene while spinning deep house and techno. It was fun but a bit ahead of its time. Fast forward 17 years (!) after a few experiments last year I’m hatching a new audio adventure - my own podcast series - The Spaceship Earth. My intention is to share conversations with inspiring folks who through their work are responding to the calls, needs and possibilities of our life giving, living planet. Folks who are leaning into what is unfolding on our watch and imagining a more beautiful world. Artists, entrepreneurs, designers, writers, photographers, healers, creative mavericks and more. It’s really the connection thread of all my work and journeying of the last decade - the interconnectedness of everything and the creative potential and possibility that this presents. The first two episodes are up with an ocean theme - chatting to @davidmstover from @bureo in the first and @easkeysurf in the second.
