I was very lucky as a east Los Angeles @cityofpicorivera raised guitarist diversified Dale, to gig, tour, and record my guitar playing with renowned ska band The Specs first album «Changes to the Few» (Sinbad Records 1991 It was only released as a cassette.). This is a song from this album called «My Soles are Worn». A lot of music was only released on analog cassette format. The Specs were no exception, a ska band originally from Riverside, California, that were very busy, and active in the late 80’s to early 90’s. with catchy original ska songs and tasty tight jumping horns. _______ The Specs were also featured, released on a various ska compilation «California Ska Quake» Vol.1 CD/Cassette (1992). It features my ol’ fellow bandmate, talented friend lead singer, trumpeter Mike Menchaca @michael.menchaca of Ventura, California. Including the late amazing and tremendous drummer of The Specs Mr.Scott Hamilton Wylie. Showdown at The Ghostown. This was a outdoor concert show in Colton, California with two stages. It involved a regular size stage that we barely fit, and a small stage that was only ankle high. Privileged guitarist olden days Dale,grew up in So Cal during the 2nd wave Ska revolution. Another tight band of talented gents I was lucky to join,recorded and toured with was a well known original ska band called The Specs from the Inland Empire,near Los Angeles,Southern California. __________________ This CD compilation release "California Ska-Quake" (Moon Records) was the first good collection to give a snapshot of the burgeoning California ska scene. The Specs were very excited to be on this compilation with No Doubt. Most of us,including No Doubt played at several small venues along with the rest of these bands. _____________________ Many of these musicians I've met at various gigs. It's strangely funny to hear early No Doubt recorded track on this CD.
