"Regrettably . . . yes," Dwight admits through gritted teeth, willing himself not to think about it any further. He could feel the thick crimson sap soaking through his joggers and down his ankle; it threatened to dislodge the bile from his stomach immediately. Dwight winces, bravely looking down to see just how bad it was. Bad idea, as his body heaves in response to the sight and he finds himself swallowing down what had attempted to come up.

"Trapper got me," he manages, slightly winded and sounding as if he could gag again at any moment as he averts his eyes. "Er . . . his trap did, anyways."

The click of his tongue is so subtle it's easy to miss. For a moment his gaze follows the small red smear across the ground - a declaration of the bolder variety. Though not one he is willing to offer more than a fleeting reaction. It's an unnerving calm - if there ever was such a thing. the kind that he reserves deliberately for the likes of her in particular.

Wesker knows better than to show disgust at the act. Though he notes quickly that she missed him by a foot, give or take. The corners of his mouth seem to turn upwards with the smallest trace of a smile as he meets her gaze.

Dwight regrets allowing his outrage to get the best of him during his last memories of working at Peak22, regrets acting on a cocky impulse and pettiness to the point it almost cost someone their life. A harmless prank gone horribly wrong, one he had assured his coworkers would be a 'Story-Hook' for the ages. Who says Story-Hook when they just mean Story? Lazar was an imbecile, of that much he was absolutely certain. And he craved justice for Rose and the many women who had taken the fall for his idiocy before her.

"Don't worry. The most that will happen is he'll act like a donkey". Dwight lifts his chin proudly and reassures her no one will get hurt. He places his hand on her shoulder and feels like the leader he always knew he's been. "Nothing bad will happen or my name isn't Dwight".

After what came next, he might as well have changed his name right then and there. A strange guilt still fills him as he finds his mind pondering absently what became of Rose, Max, or any of the others he'd shared with the pain of working for such an egotistical narcissist back at Peak22. All he had wanted was justice, though revenge might have been a better word he couldn't admit to himself was his true motivator. As much as he valued a cushy job that paid him to do practically nothing at all, the toxicity of the environment had built to a head. He wanted nothing more than to see Lazar fail and be seen for the fool he truly was, but he couldn't have anticipated the horror that would come from what was supposed to be a harmless drug . . . like liquid laughing gas . . . poured into his coffee prior to the meeting. He was the reason children found their parents without jobs at the crest of the holiday season. He was the reason parents had to explain to their children what it meant to be laid off. Liquidated along with the rest of the sad excuse for a bleeding company that still put food on their table.

He regrets not just keeping his head down, at that point. Staying quiet. Not acknowledging the way Lazar called him "Dwitch" or talked to him like he was some golf buddy with a shared misogyny at his core. Lazar got what he deserved, but Dwight struggles to forgive himself for those who were injured in Lazar's psychotic episode, and the financial injury after the fact.

ㅤㅤunable to help the feeling of being offended , Claire actively tried to steady her breaths as they deepend. she didn't like the tone from @thespyinred , the way she called terrasave a ' kumbaya singing group '. Claire had heard it all before , of course , so many people didn't take the organization seriously until they needed them. usually Claire could live without taking the digs to heart , but it was Ada. she didn't want to be written off by Ada , even if it wasn't personal to her only to her job.

ㅤㅤat the rejection that Claire knew was going to happen , she felt both disappointment and relief. she knew that she wouldn't be happy if she'd had to work alongside Ada , knowing full well a conversation about their mutual friend might irk the brunette. on the other hand , though , Claire couldn't honestly deny the spy's espionage. Ada was very talented , if not sincere.

ㅤㅤbefore she could bring herself to respond , however , the spy continued with her comment about a charitable act. the entire exchange made her uneasy , and she couldn't tell if it was simply because of the threat to terrasave's members or because of the vibes she was getting from Ada. " YOU KNOW HOW TO GET AHOLD OF ME. " was her only response as she watched the other woman saunter over to the back exit of the hardware store. she was mysterious , that much was obvious , and part of her could understand the allure that held Leon in a chokehold , but that realization put the younger Redfield in a sour mood.

ㅤㅤafter debriefing with Neil and several other members of terrasave about her meeting with Ada , Claire began looking into the thumb drive that she'd been provided. Ada hadn't been lying , there were clear cut plans for a bombing to take place at the next terrasave rally ― including a hit list of sorts , members' names that seemed to be the clear targets. Claire's name wasn't on the list , a fact that brought on a pain in her chest. of course she didn't want to be on the list , but these people were her friends ― her family even.

ㅤㅤother than the list of names and a general outline of the plan , there were several encrypted files with names seemingly related to B.O.W.s. files were labeled ; ' t ― abyss ' , ' t ― 011 TALOS ' , and ' bandersnatch '. she enlisted the help of other members of terrasave to attempt to decrypt the information , but before they could break in , she was pressured by Neil to reach out to their unwilling teammate.

smug didn't even scratch the surface, lips curl into a smirk as he watched ada. he was resourceful and she would soon see that, even if it meant nearly dying beneath the castle by the hands of krauser. holding onto the amber that secured his safety, he shakes the bottle from side to side a little before tossing it to her. ❛ i told you i'd get it, had a bit of ... help from leon too. ❜ if it wasn't for leon, he's certain that his life would've ended in those mines. it's not something he wants to think too deeply on. moving closer and pulling out his pack of cigarettes, he pulls one out and puts it between lips before lighting it. ❛ now what do you say we get out of here, yeah ? unless you want to do some more sightseeing. ❜

wherever bioweapons were, there were bound to be two guarantees ; he'd find trouble and trouble would find him. this time, that trouble took the form of ada wong, a spy that often got into places she shouldn't be in, and inevitable arise from the dead time and time again. he really shouldn't be surprised anymore. and he isn't. her voice would be a guardian angel to anyone else who'd just got their world rocked by a guy twice his size but to leon, it's a siren's song that attracts trouble and complicates everything, more than things are.

he can't deny she didn't help, though. without her, his shoulder would be a lot worse than just discomfort and likely pulled out of its joint ( or hell, ripped off ), which it almost had been and he hates that the feeling lingers. with an irritated grunt, the brunet snatched up the fallen pistol and shoved it back in its holster, rolling his shoulder to ease the pain. it's only then that he finally looked at ada, and boy does he regret it. yeah, she really does complicate things. ❝ shoulda known you'd show up again. this has your name all over it. ❞ not in the sense that it's all because of her but in the sense that it'd be just the thing she'd want, or something she'd be hired to get. ❝ not gonna make this easy for me, are ya? ❞ not that he'd expect anything less.
