"Well that's too bad," Claire remarked about his lost badge. Teasingly, she added, "The whole cop thing was kind of hot."
Another kiss and Claire let herself be the one to melt, even if it was brief, fleeting. Damn did she want more, but old scars kept her in check. They barely knew each other, it would be such a disaster, wouldn't it? Jumping in without much thought? But it felt so right being here, with Leon, forehead to forehead, and hanging onto each other, even if in the loosest of terms.
"It was a long walk, wasn't it?" He moved away and the urge to frown was fought down, beaten up and thrown out a window before Leon could notice. It was hard for her to go, as much as it was hard for him to let go. It was clear in his almost defeated stance. He joked, but she could clock the worry, the concern, the fear that was set in his shoulders, his hands, his brows.
"Leon...I'm not going off to war, or something. Don't look so gloomy."
Man, she really needed to go, but she kept closing the distance. Arms slipping under his arms and giving him a tight hug.
"Don't make me think we gotta get eloped before I leave, or something." Again, a joke. Light hearted, but something of a reality in the past; soldiers going off and marrying in a hurry because who knew what may happen out there, in this new world filled with biological terrors. "I'm coming back, I promise. I will always come back for you, and Sherry."
