What a life changing experience this week for our sons jackson and thomas. They spent time with @sumbafoundation feeding Sumbanese school children and seeing what school life is like on the “Forgotten Island”. To learn that many children on the island only eat one meal a day most days and that is often the meal provided by the @sumbafoundation . Walk 2 or more kilometers to school and have to carry water back home to their village because they have no running water! The boys handed out soccer balls and other balls to the delight of the school kids who have no balls to play with at school. I hope my boys will now be inspired to give more in life and take only what they need. And a big thank you to @mayestikadara for teaching the boys about sumba life! I am inspired to be involved with the Sumba Eye Program from Australia along with the Sumba Foundation just completed another successful mission. The combined surgical and vision screening team screened 1234 people in total, 1146 people were given glasses, 128 procedures were performed and 94 of these were on “blind” cataracts.
