Corners

The sky is snowing its heart out as I leave my third home.

Out the car window I see what I decide is a father and son making a snowman. Their dog — whose black fur is striking next to the white garden — is watching on.

Leaves on fir trees are half hidden by powder that could fall or be blown off at any moment.

There are Christmas songs playing on the radio, but it doesn’t feel like Christmas Eve.

Now I’m staring out at a runway maze.

People are getting on with life in spite of the weather. That’s something I will always strive to do. Is there a point otherwise?

They are calling out names of cities and numbers of gates. I don’t need to pay attention. So I delve into the corners of my mind instead.

I’m still the same person. But four months down the line and I’ve changed for good.
