Mary smiled fondly at the memories that rushed through her mind. Even though Bert had passed away quite a number of years ago, that didn’t mean she would forget him. Every so often, she would come visit him. Perhaps leave some flowers, or a kite, or something else. Just to remind him, wherever he was, that she’d always remember him. She still cared about Bert very, very much. She would always cherish the memories that the two of them shared.
She smiled as the Doctor put his hand on her shoulder. “Oh, you remember Bert, don’t you, Doctor?” She asked, smiling warmly. “I believe I introduced you to him while I was showing you the chalk drawings over by the park. It’s a shame I never took you into one…” Now, they were gone. However there was always the very small possibility that one was still there. Hidden away under a bench somewhere, protected from the rain.
"Vaguely. Tha' was the only other time I met him. Fantastic artist, though; fantastic man, too, from what I could see. Ran into him on the streets of London some years before you introduced us, in my case anyway; we chatted for a bit, but then we went our separate ways." What had struck the Doctor the most about Bert was his genuine happiness, even though he often got the short straw from Life. A person who could see the good in life and remain jolly when Life was unkind was a fantastic person. He remembered the chalk drawings, though, and it didn't surprise him that Mary would venture into them. "I'm sure I would have loved it."
