(he's just making sure you're eating enough...
you almost DIED falling down STAIRS what are you TALKING ABOUT
“That’s because I was excited to see your dumb face you absolute numbnut, you’re the one who killed me, and you’re no stupid thing to die for!”
@thetranquillight
“Kouji! Do you like marshmallows????”
forces you to write a good end where everyone accepts lowee
““Hey.”
They don’t call him Kouichi anymore.
To some extent, Lowee is who he claimed to be- if he wears Kouichi’s face, and occupies Kouichi’s place, and acts like Kouichi, then who else would he be? The fact that he’s able to speak out I am Kouichi is proof enough.
But, well. At the end of the day, this is nothing but another title to add to his history. Not who they actually want him to be.
“I’ve done... A lot of thinking.”
All in all, Lowee thinks this could have ended worse. Kouji is going to do the platonic equivalent of a breakup with him, Lowee will keep tending to his mom, and they will never speak again. It could be a lot, lot worse.
“I will be mourning him some more.”
Fair enough. Kouichi’s funerals are... long overdue.
“I tried to hate you, you know? And I am mad at you. For lying and all.”
Ah, here it is. This is the part where he tells him to leave.
“But... despite everything, you’re still my brother.”
...
Wait
Wait hold on what?!
He’s not Kouichi, he points out stupidly. Kouji shakes his head at it.
“Yet you still listened to me. Talked to me. Stood by me. Bickered with me.”
“A while back, I said I loved you and trusted you. And... despite my best efforts, it’s still true.”
This... this is... this isn’t how it was supposed to go. Kouji was supposed to hate him. He can’t possibly- have come to like him, Lowee, the nobody.
Is he still hanging on the hope that Kouichi is in there? Does he want to be close with the remnants of his brother?
But no, he’s wrong. Because Kouji look at him straight in the eyes, and call him by his name.
Not ‘Kouichi’. Not ‘Lowee’. His real name. His full name.
Lowee’s breath hitches, and around them, the lights flicker.
“Let’s go home, Aniki.” Kouji extends a hand to take, and Lowee knows. He’s looking at him. Past the sack of meat and bones- him. He’s the one he wants in his life. Not as a backup, not as a replacement. As himself. “Let’s go home.”
Kouji’s palm is warm under Lowee’s fingers.
Softly, he starts to cry.
‘ do you miss anyone? ’
“Yeah, I miss our digital spirits. And Bokomon and Neemon.”

“/belly rubs/ are your weakness?”
“Don’t judge till you’ve tried them!!”
“When you think about people who have died, do you picture them anywhere?”
“Well, I usually try not to think of people who have died!”
“...”
“Honestly, I don’t know. They probably go somewhere, since Kouichi went to the digital world with us. But when I think of them, I think of them, not a place, you know?”
