Spell Work: Seeing It In Action
A few months ago, I created a Cleansing Jar that sits on the table next to the front door of the house. Every new and full moon, I empty the contents, clean the jar, and redo it.
This jar was created as a means to absorb negativity as it crosses the threshold; blocking these feelings from entering the house. It is meant to cleanse anyone who comes inside of bad feelings and thoughts and allow us to settle into our home comfortably. It appears to be working, as those of us who live in the home have been having far more pleasant experiences than before. We tend to be in better moods, unless something or someone goes out of their way to make us feel bad. Every night (between 9-10pm), or very early in the morning (between 2-5am), I swirl the contents of the jar for the banishing portion of the spell. When it comes time to redo it, anything contained in the water is banished as it is removed from the property.
Which leads me to the morning of May 29, 2026. I swirled the little jar and watched as the contents swirled around the jar, things I did not add dancing in the water. I was grossed out; I gagged a little. I also enjoyed that it seems like, based off of physical observations, the jar is doing its purpose. It is absorbing the negativity that tries to latch onto us and protecting us from it.
Abundancy Shell Spell
Last(ish) month, I had bought a 4-pack of stuffed Scallops from work (they were delicious). The shells are gorgeous, in my opinion, and should be used for something meaningful.
I had put one on my altar, not sure of much besides it felt right putting it there. Soon after, I added "pearl" (pretty sure they are fake) earrings in it after cutting the hardware off. Again, it felt right for them to be there. They also were use to help activate beauty (can't think of a better word) glamors I have in place.
Last night (6.29.26) was the Strawberry Moon. I decided to do something with the shell in the room. I turned it into a type of abundancy spell, with a heavy focus on bringing in what we need.
I think I need to do a true cleansing ritual tonight.
Maybe an elemental cleaning ritual. Cleansing with fire and air (smoke), cleansing with water (I'll make a salt or rose qhartz water?), cleansing with earth (sticking my hands in the grass or asking for assistance from one of my plants).
I've been feeling very... off for a few days.
The Salem Witch Trials, McCarthyism, and Slut Shaming
Parris (to Abigail): ...your name in the town—it is entirely white, is it not?
While Arthur Miller's play, "The Cruible", did not come out until 1953, the events that the piece revolve around happened in 1690's Puritanical America.
So, there are 3 different lenses this play should be peered through:
16-1700s Puritanical America
1950s America during McCarthyism/The Red Scare
Current Day
Unfortunately, during all 3 of these periods, women (or woman-passing and more feminine) have been treated poorly; as less than. In Puritanical America, a woman's duty was to follow her husband's command, follow the rule of God, and raise the children. In 1950s America, women were still, essentially, their husband's property. Even today, if you look on Reddit and other areas of social media you can see a woman being disparaged for doing something a male-counterpart would be praised for; shamed for her sexuality, her promiscuity.
Change doesn't have to be scary
It can begin with a small spark.
Change can start with a plan
But, eventually, you have to "just do".
