essentials of baneful magic
just to preface that i am a BEGINNER in baneful magic. i've become quite knowledgeable on benevolent magic after several years of practicing it, so while i do have foundational knowledge of the materials and techniques, the execution is often very different. this post is as much for me as it is for you (whoever you may be). it is not meant to be a comprehensive introduction, nor a complete guide, but if you have any questions i will absolutely do my best to answer them :)
special thanks to @trash-bin-witch for all their help assisting my introduction to baneful magic, as they're a lot more experienced with all this than me.
Music Magick
Music has long been recognized as a powerful tool for evoking emotions, altering consciousness, and connecting with the divine. In the realm of witchcraft, music can be used to enhance rituals, set intentions, and amplify energy. Here are some ways to incorporate music into your magickal practice:
• Listening to specific songs to help you get in the right mood and mindset for the spell/ritual you're going to perform.
• Creating/charging sigils.
• Magickal choreography (casting spells by dancing).
• Use music to guide a meditation, or meditate on the song itself, its meaning, and what emotion it represents.
• Using beats/rhythms to induce a trance state.
• Sing your incantations.
• Keep music on in the background while doing your craft or studying magick to raise your vibration and improve your results.
• Audiomancy; divination through music (ie: specific lyrics or songs playing at synchronistic times).
• Create playlists for/with the deities and spirits you work with. This can be used as both an offering and an invocation.
• Listen to angry music while doing baneful magick to amplify your rage.
Hair Growth Spell
Each morning, spritz rose water into your hair and say while looking into a mirror:
"With every drop, my hair shall grow,
Like wild roses, roots below.
Beauty blooming, strength anew-
This spell I cast, as witches do."
(i personally used rice water instead of rose water since it was all i had and i feel like it worked even better)
please enjoy beauties <3
I don’t know who needs to hear this but having doubts about your practice is totally normal and actually beneficial.
Questioning everything is intelligence.
Poll for witches
This is for anyone who self-identifies as a witch. This poll is about assumptions or social pressure about the role of creative spellcrafting in witchcraft.
"Spells" can also broadly refer to magical techniques meant to have an effect on yourself or the world.
This refers to how you practice a large majority of the time; vote with your heart.
When I need to cast a spell...
I never re-use spells, I come up with a new one for everything
I will re-use spells but I always individualize them
I will re-use spells and sometimes individualize them
I will re-use spells but rarely or never individualize them
Thanks to memory issues, everything I do is for the first time
This doesn't apply to my practice/other

You don't need to get fancy expensive sound bowls or musical instruments for sound cleansing/grounding/centering.
You can simply play music that you love. From phones, speakers, CDs, records, TV, whichever you have available to you.
Music moves through the air no matter its source. Sound waves exist no matter what or who is making them.
