@the-ultimate-muses continued from this ask:
This...he was still dreaming, right? He hadn't actually woken up at the end of class handcuffed to Nagito, courtesy of a little imp named Hiyoko?
The headache pounding behind his eyes may as well have screamed No.
This is what he got for letting his guard down, his mind still fuzzy as the bell woke him from his short nap. He hadn't noticed the weight at first, until lifting the shackled hand to rub sleep from his eyes. It took a long moment of staring for Kazuichi to register what he was looking at, that evil little cackle of Hiyoko's enough to strike fear into the heart of anyone who heard it.
Well...maybe not anyone. But Kaz certainly felt a shiver along his spine when he heard it.
His question of "Hiyoko what the fuck?!" Had been loud and shrill, it making his own ears throb in protest as the short chain was rattled. Her answer had been another laugh and a series of taunts that ultimetly led to an: "I don't know, I thought it would be fun."
Fun.
He had so much shit to do, and she chose now to have her fun?!
Kazuichi was muttering to himself now, free hand running through his unrully hair, his hat having been knocked to the floor in order to carry out the nervous motion.
"Okay, okay this is fine. This is fine! She won't give us the key, but maybe...I...can...cut the chain! Yeah!" He was a mechanic! He had tools!! "C'mon Nagito, we're going to my garage!" No doubt his eagerness to cut him loose was misconstrued as not wanting to be around Nagtio, when in reality it was born of panic from his long list of work he'd been assigned. Not schoolwork, no; work work. Of course everyone at the school brought their cars to him! Who wouldn't take advantage of the Ultimate Mechanic? And on top of that was the list of shit he had to fix for the school itself, and he wasn't even getting paid! He was too scared of what might happen should he refuse any request made of him by staff of the school.
"Okay this is fine, it's all gonna be fine."
Why did he have a feeling it wouldn't be fine?
komaeda had let this happen without a single complaint. it's not as if he had fallen asleep in class — sure, he was a little confused... and it's not as if he was eager to be handcuffed to someone... but it was an interesting situation to be in. he let her do this out of pure curiosity and nothing else. how would souda react? what would he do?
the yelling did cause him to flinch due to the volume; he hated loud noises. and, unfortunately for him, souda was a very verbally expressive person. it could be worse, though. and he would be lying if he said he didn't find some amusement in all of this as well.
❝ your garage? ❞ cutting the chain could probably work, but there is some apprehension as komaeda is encouraged along. up and out of his seat, looking to souda to lead the way. normally it would be right about now when komaeda would praise souda for his resourcefulness! of course the ultimate mechanic would find an easy way to cut through this minor inconvenience.
instead komaeda finds himself hesitating — anxiety beginning to swirl around inside of him. he hadn't thought this far ahead when saionji had locked them together... but souda is the ultimate mechanic. to be stuck to him means that they'll have to be around lots of tools and machinery, huh?
with his luck... that's a recipe for disaster.
❝ hey, souda-kun...? ❞ surely, though, someone like souda would never fall victim to his horrific luck cycle. he was a symbol of hope; far stronger than someone like komaeda. it would be ridiculous to think the luck of someone like him would even be able to scratch someone like souda. even still... ❝ how cluttered is your garage? ❞
