Guh. I find that as I read more about The Unbrunch, I am still really pissed about how the failure of “The God Complex” was handled, in that Cinereal took my money and then never communicated with me about the lack of production. My friend and I donated a not insignificant amount because we wanted to support an artist we were fans of, and we understood and understand that things happen and that nothing was guaranteed. But clearly Cinereal still exists, so my money funded some aspect of that existence, and there was no acknowledgement of that. I’m bitter, I admit that, and I’m sure I’m not the only person who donated and felt burned. If they had communicated pretty much AT ALL, offered some kind of explanation or apology, I know I would feel differently. I’m also pretty sure they know they didn’t handle it correctly because my donating email never ended up on any of their mailing lists.
Secondly, this has made me totally gun shy about donating to other people’s fundraisers. I should get over it, I know.
Finally, what really gets my goat is that Unbrunch is 100% something I’d go to experience, but I probably won’t because I’d just seethe the whole time.
The Unbrunch is an immersive theatrical production allowing guests to enter the incredible world of Wonderland.
