So I have this feeling that after the contents of a very rude note precipitated one of the most traumatic events in Xue Yang's life, learning to read became one of the Delinquent of Kuizhou's priorities in life. What are your thoughts on how he got this education? Seems like something he'd need to have under his belt to be the prime candidate for Jin Sect demonic cultivator, or did he just speed run it on entry?
So first off it is so important to me that Xue Yang is a legit genius. That being said, I actually don't know that he could learn to read until he had some kind of a stable situation (i.e. at Jinlintai); I think he might be able to figure out enough to read important or simple things based on context etc. I think he speed ran it on entry, and probably with surprising speed.
The fun thing about Xue Yang other than all the other fun things is the contrast between how smart he is and the fact that he easily comes off to people as (a) a feckless young man with no manners or (b) something beastly and violent. The aura of delinquent that hangs around him even after he's "gone legit" (which, I think, is at least a little bit intentional) means it's very easy for gentry to write him off, the way people sometimes associate "lower class" with "stupid." So when he's not...I think it sometimes catches people off guard.
(Not Jin Guangyao. I think Jin Guangyao meets Xue Yang and pretty quickly clocks him as being smarter than people give him credit for.)
Given Xue Yang's volatile temper, though, and the fact that he's not exactly the most patient of students, I can imagine that finding him a teacher that can deal with him is not always easy. Which is why I invite you to imagine Jin Guangyao (who seems to be fairly good at handling him) being the person whose responsibility it ends up being to make sure his father's new pet demonic cultivator is educated (enough).
I feel like he wouldn't completely hate it. I can imagine there might actually be something kind of nice about being the knowledgeable one with a student who is genuinely very eager to learn. And Jin Guangyao is very good at not making the mistake I think a lot of people make with Xue Yang, and avoiding treating him with anything that might even look like condescension.
Xue Yang's ability to read is probably still a little patchy and irregular, and reading anything complicated or with bad handwriting would probably be a challenge. But he's very proud of his newfound literacy nonetheless.
After reading that post about the concubine/strategy dude, *slightly* different dynamic, but have you read "The Wife is First"? Because that's very close to what the prince and his arranged marriage male wife have going on.

Status: ACCEPTING
A week has gone by since Cloud has been kidnapped and brought to this wet cold and damp place. A cellar? A basement? A bunker? Someplace underground? He doesn’t know, he’d been knocked out when they brought him here.
The first few days was EASY to put up a fight. His SOLDIER persona came in handy there. No matter how many punches or torturing they threw at him, he REFUSED to budge. Refused to make much of a sound and give them the SATISFACTION of hearing him in pain.
Then came the last few days. The SOLDIER persona had worn down, the pain of being hit, electrocuted, and badly beaten was too much. He’s covered in blood, covered in cut marks from which they cut at him with a knife in tiny cuts as if that’ll get him to tell them the information they wish to receive.
AVALANCHE’S whereabouts. This is what this is about. Is this....Shinra’s doing? They don’t look like Shinra operatives. He’s bled and been beaten so much it’s hard to lift his head up when he hears THE SCREAMS that echo throughout the halls and reach the cell he’s in.
Vision is blurry, tears that come from the pain make it hard to see - he expects it to be Tifa, Barret, Aerith and the rest of them but it sounds like there is ONLY ONE PERSON. There’s a yell of ‘kill him!’.
It’s one person. Barret wouldn’t have come here on his own. So who is his rescuer?
It doesn’t take long to find out because soon the screams die out - whoever it is, these people hold NO MATCH against his rescuer. His eyes have closed and all he can do is LISTEN to the sound of footsteps approaching.

That voice. He knows that voice.....Sephiroth?
The chains come undone, chains that have left skin raw and red. As soon as they are undone, Cloud SLUMPS FOWARD against his rescuer - unable to hold himself up. His arms move to wrap around Sephiroth in a desperate attempt to keep himself upright, fingers curling into the fabric of Sephiroth’s clothing on his back but his grip is loose, barely there.
Blood is smeared all over Sephiroth from the blond, the blood on his face, blood on his clothing - bruises litter his entire body like a well-decorated map. He’s in bad shape but....HE’S SAFE.
How odd that he feels safe with someone like Sephiroth. Someone whom he had thought would be the furthest thing from safe but here they are, with Sephiroth’s arms like some kind of SANCTUARY. “S-Sephiroth.” It sounds pained, a WHIMPER really, and his voice sounds hoarse - from all the screaming he’d eventually done.
Head moves to bury his face against the other’s body with little care that more blood stains his clothing from the action. He takes a deep breath despite how much it hurts him, inhaling the comforting scent of Sephiroth. He says nothing more - his life is in Sephiroth’s hands now and he chooses to TRUST HIM.
20. Are they proud of their kinks? Is there a kink they’re too ashamed to share?
Reno is actually ashamed of most of his kinks. If he’s talking to you about them you’re either a lifelong friend or a close confidant, or you caught him somewhere private. Even if he shares with your muse in a casual way these are cards he keeps quite close to his chest.
Most of the shame stems from people expecting him to be hypersexual either due to being from Wall Market, the way he dresses, or Having false expectations that he always wants sex, or is in some way trying to get it. Too many people have put sexuality and openness of it under a microscope for him to open up about his kinks and not get some form of backlash or scorn. This isn’t even to mention the flak and misconceptions people have due to his mother FiFi being a sex worker.
He won’t openly share the kink that he likes being roughhoused/ likes rough sex just as much as the more vanilla stuff. Too many dates have misconstrued it as “toxic male’ or “rape fetish” and ended up trying to abuse him over it. Reno’s never been that kindof guy but it’s caused enough problems he’s twitchy when it comes up in public conversation.
TLDR: people being shitty about his kinks has marred his view of himself, even though none of them are toxic and the most risque things he likes are actually Relatively tame stuff.

nathan being a great big brother and just being all protective and defensive of him and just being there when he comes out to angela and arthur

despite being utterly pissed at angela, peter hugs her for what feels like hours after the nightmare and the ferris wheel
peter and sylar had an unspoken agreement that they were allowed to touch each other every once in a while to make sure the other was real
maybe this continued after they got out of the nightmare?? idk man
if that’s the case then people repeatedly ask if they’re together because of how close they are
and since i’m petlar trash the answer is yes but if you don’t ship it then they don’t gotta be together simple as that *shrug*
this is more of a story idea but the point still stands:
claire decides to surprise peter by dropping by early for a holiday only to find peter being pinned up against the wall telekinetically by sylar and she immediately jumps to the conclusion that sylar’s evil again
but sylar was just annoyed that peter wouldn’t stay out of the way while sylar was making dinner smh
speaking of sylar making dinner sylar probably tried teaching peter how to cook at one point
he also probably ended up failing but it’s the thought that counts
and well peter probably has a bunch of unresolved mental issues because of all the crap he’s been through (i mean the same goes to everyone tbh but i’m going off of the simple ‘Peter has panic attacks’ that’s on this doc) and people just don’t notice because it’s peter! he’s such a happy little fella! i mean, sure, he can be Scary but he’s such a good kid. so if something was wrong it would be obvious since he’s happy all the time right? it’d be obvious if he wasn’t happy? right??
