“Ms. Gilmore? Jess Mariano is here to see you.” “Thank you, Martin. Please send him in.” Rory stood up at her desk as a tall, handsome man entered her office. He was nicely dressed, slacks and a blazer, and his hair was just long enough to reach his eyes.“Mr. Mariano! So nice to finally meet you. I’ve been looking forward to this interview all week.” She held out her hand, and he shook it without hesitation. “I appreciate that, and please call me Jess. Not to be rude, but isn’t this something a lower ranked reporter would cover? My tiny novel is a far too insignificant to earn a profile by the editor and chief herself.” They took a seat, and Rory waved off his self deprecation.“I couldn’t let anyone else do this. I loved your book so much, I just had to meet you in person and tell you.” “Oh wow, high praise. Thank you so much. I love your editorials, by the way. Your insight on Obama’s campaign platform is spot on.””Thank you! I was actually followed him on his first campaign trail back in ‘07. But enough about me, let’s jump right into The Subsect.” “Okay, if you insist. It’s been a long time coming, this novel. It was pretty much the thing that made me grow up.” “And where did you grow up?” Rory had to remind herself to take notes, finding it hard to look away from Jess. There was a spark in his eye when he talked about his book, but with the mention of his childhood came a darkness that quickly covered it up.“New York. But I left home at seventeen, traveled around for a bit, and then ended up in Philly…” There was something about him, something in his voice, something about the way he carried himself that fascinated Rory. She could so clearly see The Subsect in him, or rather him in The Subsect. She wanted to know him. “…and then in Philly I stumbled upon Truncheo-” “Would you like to get coffee sometime?” Did she really just ask that. “Ohmygod I’m so sorry that was so unprofessional. I’ve just been obsessed with this book for weeks now and you seem so great and real and I wanted to get to know you but— oh my god so so crossing lines here, Rory. Please just igno—” “I would love to have coffee.” Rory looked up from her rambling to see Jess smiling. He had a beautiful smile. “Really?” “I know a great place just around the corner.”
Hi, I was wondering how you edit your pictures (well your photography work)? I am trying to learn how to edit my stuff and I love what you do so I thought maybe you had some tricks for a beginner? :)
editing is important, but my advice for beginners is to shoot every day! or every week if that works better for you. basically just shoot as much as possible and become familiar with different shot angles/camera settings because as important a tool as editing can be, I don’t think it’s the most important, you know?
focus on light, colors, and composition
when it does come to editing I use photoshop CS6, but for the longest time I used photoshop elements 10 and found it simple, cheap, and useful enough
