Closing In

" Sammy... "

Sam's body was instantly filled with a chilling sensation upon hearing that voice. He immediately recognized the source of the voice - Lucifer. He nodded in disbelief, attempting to reassure himself that it was a mere coincidence, that it occurred solely due to Dean's comment about hearing Michael. After dismissing it, he returned to his workout as if it had never occurred.

" SAM... "

Without hesitation, Sam released the weights he was holding and swiftly approached the nearest wall, pressing his hands against it. His gaze fixated on the ground, fully aware that this was not a mere coincidence. Lucifer and Michael were making their way back, and there was hardly anything they could do to halt or even delay their progress. Suddenly, beads of perspiration formed on Sam's forehead.

" Now isn't a good time, Lucifer. "

" Sam, I thought I taught you better. In my absence, you've been killing my children AGAIN. Drinking the blood of MY children like some out of control degenerate."

" That's on you Lucifer! You left me and gave me no other choice. I did what I had to in order to keep my family safe!"

" Bullshit! You're fucking Sam Winchester, my true vessel. You're diluting yourself if you think you couldn't handle whatever situation arose. Besides, do you think I would allow anything to happen to either of them even in my absence? Remember that's OUR family. I'm starting to feel like this newfound freedom of yours is starting to go to your head. Or maybe it's Dean rotting that brain of yours? "

" Leave Dean out of this! " Sam shouted. 

" No, no I don't think I will Sammy. Dean's always been the problem. He makes you WEAK. Do you think you're going to stand a chance against Michael when he finds Dean and takes over? When Michael comes to erase you from the face of this earth? You think Dean is strong enough to refuse? He already showed you once before that he'll give himself over. He would have rather seen you dead than with me. "

" STOP IT! That's not true, that's not why Dean did it. He won't say yes again. I know my brother. And stop trying to twist my head up. This isn't about Dean and you know it. "

" You're right Sam, this isn't about Dean. You're resisting and I know WHY. I ain't mad about it Sam, why would I be? What does anger me is your resistance when I thought we had an understanding. "

" You know I won't resist but now isn't a good time. I just need some time. "

" Time isn't on your side Sam. " Michael's voice could heard, faint but vivid. " We both know I don't need Dean to take care of you. If there is no you, my brother will be easier to deal with. "

Sam's heart sank in his chest when suddenly everything went silent as the grave. Sam's cry of " LUCIFER! " echoed through the air, yet it was met with nothing but an eerie stillness. The youngest Winchester was consumed by anger, causing him to grab the weight he had been using for his workout and hurl it forcefully through the nearest window of his gym.

Reading this back story of Céline Montclaire was not easy for me. I had a concept of her that kept on changing during this short story.
