Jude’s not...exactly looking forward to seeing Ludger. Of course he loves his brother with all his heart, and getting home from school is always the highlight of his day because he gets to spend all of his free time with his brothers. But having to be picked up from school...early. When Julius is out of town with his partner and he knows Ludger is busy is a bit...mortifying.
The school nurse (who’s a rather stern man, but cares deeply for his students) has shut down all of Jude’s protests that he’s fine and can go back to class. Because “Jude should know better anyway, being in premed, and he’s fooling absolutely no one.” But Jude doesn’t want to hear the lecture that will be given to Ludger that Jude’s blood sugar is too low (again) because he forgot to eat (again) when it’s entirely his fault for forgetting, not Julius’s inability to cook or that Ludger is usually too busy to notice if Jude’s eaten enough when Julius is out of town.
Also the lecture that he’s going to hear given to him from Ludger for wearing his binder too long in addition to...all of this. He sighs inwardly as he sees Ludger open the door to the nurse’s office, and offers an awkward smile and wave.
“Um, hey, Ludger. I’m fi--”
Before the lie is even out of his mouth, the school nurse, Dr. Valrieksts cuts him off sternly.
“Mr. Kresnik you are not fine, you have low blood sugar again and need to take off your binder, the sooner the better. I understand things are difficult with a family member out of town but...” Dr. Valrieksts sighs, handing a form to Ludger to sign. “As soon as you get him home, please make sure he eats something and gets plenty of rest.”
