This book completely took me by surprise! It was nothing like what I was expecting which I suspect adds to the magic of the story. . Barrie-Anne Blythe and her Aunt Charlotte live a solitary life, isolated by their ‘otherness’, not just their magic, but by their independence, sexuality and gender non-conformity. Set post-WW2, two unexpected events occur: the appearance of a healthy baby girl and the arrival of Barrie-Anne’s husband. The convergence of these events, plus alien sightings and a new agency called the CIA, threatens the tenuous security they’ve built for themselves. . Magic is not the primary focus of the novel; however it is central to the relationship between the two women and the familial ties and history. The Witch’s Kind is a story told by witches, revealing the struggles between self-preservation and a wider acceptance within the community. It is a story told from the perspective of an outsider, quiet, thinking. A really lovely story! . #thewitchskind #louisamorgan #orbitbooks #gifted #bookstagram #booklove #fantasybooks #witchesofinstagram #witchbook #flatlay #gifted #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookblogger #bookworm #bookoftheday #queerbooks #lgbt #lgbtqia (at Liverpool) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxMpwMhHoUH/?igshid=1m7znikzh2rwd
