Greetings, lost souls.
You may call me Reason Anon or Sophronius, whichever you prefer. How may I help guide you down the right path?
Hehe!
So... what's your whole deal? You came in with Icia earlier, but I think I heard something about you being from the circus or something? Sooooo what brings ya here?
*She rocks back and forth on her heels.*
*sophronius looks up out a nearby window, his gaze growing distant.*
I came to help, however I am needed. I...
*his voice falters for a moment, and he speaks in a quieter tone.*
I hoped it would be easier to help here than in the circus. The people here... they want help. They want to be happy. And they are less likely to push help away. But in the circus...
*his voice trails off, and his thoughts drift for a moment. mostly to mix and all those associated with him. then he shakes his head to clear his mind, turning back to dunite.*
So I am here, to help and calm those who need it.
[gtg, but ill be back]
…that depends. Because they haven’t listened to you much before.
*sophronius frowns.*
I... do not believe I know what you are referring to. I do not... if you are referring to something that has occurred outside of the circus, then I would not know of it. My sentience, and therefore my memory, exists only within these digital worlds. Outside of that...
*he shrugs.*
“S-stop talking to me like that. What do you want from me?! What do you want from Sophro?!?! And if you try and hurt him, this doll is going to destroy you.”
*he laughs, giving sophronius a meaningful, teasing smile that seems just a little too... smiley.*
Woah-ho-ho! You picked a feisty one here, buddy!
*sophronius shifts in a circle to be standing in front of her, shielding her from view.*
Do not call me that, imposter. Answer her questions.
*the imposter circles them, throwing his head back and laughing. its chill-inducing, and not the good kind. sophronius continues to move in a circle around her, scowling.*
Oh, you. You're so funny. And stupid. Very stupid.
*the imposter tilts his head at reverie over sophronius's back.*
Do you know what he did? What he chose not to tell you? It's because he did that I have so much power over him, ya know.
*he meets sophronius's eyes with a malicious smile.*
You can thank him for all this trouble, just so you know. Things wouldn't be going the way they are now if he had just opened his mouth.
*he chuckles, shaking his head.*
But he listened to me, and now he's gonna have to deal with me forever.
*he meets sophronius's eyes again, looking menacing and terrifying.*
Do you wanna tell her, or do I get to?
“Like HECK I will-“
She sprints after them, surprisingly fast. She draws the dagger from its sheath.
*the two just barely stop short of crashing into each other. the copy, the one controlled by the real sophronius, begins to circle the other, so the other follows his lead. they stare at each other for a long time, and then the strange one speaks, his voice full of amusement.*
So. You figured that out fast. You lucky duck, you.
*he glances at reverie with those deep, dark eyes, giving her a little flirtatious wave, before turning that smile back on sophronius.*
But to what end? You've already learned that you're powerless against me.
*he chuckles, looking back at reverie again. he gestures to sophronius as he continues, his words seemingly directed at both of them.*
I mean, you had to go to a kid to come back here! A kid who was stuck in a room with his suicidal uncle! Honestly, how pathetic is that?
*he grins.*
Am I right?
*sophronius has stopped walking, staring at this... thing in shock.*
How would you know that?
*the other bursts out laughing, shaking his head at reverie with a look like "can you believe this guy?" before responding to sophronius.*
I'm everywhere, guy.
*he taps the side of his head.*
Just like you. Ya can't get rid of me. Ever.
*he looks at reverie with a wicked smile.*
Ain't that right, doll?
*why is he looking at her like that? what does he want?*
“…’s fine…”
…Something feels off. Something feels strange about his voice, but she remembers how much panic changes both of them and brushes it off.
(Get out of my body. Get away from her. Leave me be.)
{I can't do that, pony man. Cry about it, why dontcha?}
(Go. Away.)
{Or what? You can't do anything to me. You can't touch me. I'm the one in control here. So why don't you just sit back and let the smart one take the wheels for a moment, okay?}
(...)
{Oh, and dontcha worry about her finding out. I've been around you for a long time. I know what I gotta say and do to keep your little secrets.}
*hes panicking. he so desperately wants his body back. he needs it. hes gotten so used to it already. he cant go back now. he doesnt want to go back to being nothing but a voice, easily ignored and easily silenced. he cant. he doesnt want to. and then he gets an idea, and instantly calms down. this will work. this will be fine. it will be fine.*
They both stare at the flower-speckled ground, trying to hide their panic. Reverie’s is a lot more obvious, her eyes wide with fear and terror. She holds onto him for dear life.
{You lovesick, big-hearted fool. Look what you've- ugh, here, I'll fix this.}
*and suddenly hes in the mindscape. his physical form, his body, is still there, still holding reverie, but he is not. whoever this is, theyve taken him over. and then his body speaks, with his voice, with his love for her, but its not him.*
My apologies, my love. I... am still quite worried about you. I suppose I am not as calm as I thought I was. Please, forgive me for stopping my power so suddenly. If I were... calmer... I would not have done so.
*and his arms hug her tighter, his body hunches around her to give her more comfort, but hes not doing this, hes not in control, hes not the one helping her. his panic only deepens, but he can no longer show it. and it gets worse when he realizes that while he can be in the mindscape of his own body, something is blocking him from hers.*
Reverie takes in a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. Her memory is hazy at best, to her great chagrin, and no matter how hard she focuses, she can’t remember, can’t remember who hurt her and why she’s in this digital world and who brought her here or anything…
But she can still smell the vineyards in spring.
*he can tell shes having trouble calming down, and he focuses on his own calm demeanor, then focuses on spreading that to her. its only once hes started to do that that he realizes that he still feels horrified and guilty because of his thoughts and actions, and quickly withdraws his power and presence from her mind before she can feel that. before she learns of the truth. god, this strange voice within him has made him terrified and paranoid. if he doesnt calm down, everything he stands for will fall to pieces.*
