♔| “Pardon?”
The young woman had not been sure if that soft voice she adored so much had voiced such a thing. Be treated as someone else? Is that what she wished? Naturally, Lea had every right in her mind to settle any wish or desire her loved ones asked of her. Yet, to hear something such as this to be one of those wishes was something to regard carefully.
“Miss Ada, may I ask… what’s wrong with who you are now?” She inquired with a curious tone. Thankfully, the library of the Academy always seemed to be empty around this time of the day, so she could rely on their previous moments here to be just as private as any other. “You are wonderful, just the way you are… Why on earth would you wish otherwise?”
Perhaps she did not want to be burdened with nobility? or was there more to it..?
Her small hand reached out to trace a pale finger across the noblewoman’s cheek. Her touch was gentle, not wishing to taint the older woman in any way with her own impure, street-rat blood.
“Is there something on your mind you wish to tell me?”
Legs slowly curled in beneath her, her green hues having searched every space availability just to avoid the concern that the raven would shoot in her direction. The words had fallen out like a burden finally being raised. There hadn't been any tears that accumulated at the corners of her eyes, just the sudden look of disappointment. Ada assumed that her thoughts had gotten the best of her.
Heavily swallowing the words that urged to come up in order to support her statement, Ada finally looked to her love. What wasn't there about her that she'd like to change? Perhaps she would keep her individuality intact, but other than that... her status got in the way, her tendency to become a victim than a hero, everything else.
Again, Ada recoiled into herself just before the touch of a careful finger grazed over her face. She hated being in these moods, especially when she was around Lea. Times like these were moments for them to laugh and talk about their life long aspirations -- the happiest things. "I don't like being a noble, because sooner or later it'll tear me away from you," Ada muttered. "A-and I don't like feeling so powerless because I've got other people to protect me. I want to protect myself -- do something myself. The one time I had done something myself, it never worked."
Pained and frustrated, Ada shot her gaze back up to Lea. Her dainty, frail hand reached out to clutch and intertwine into the other's. "I tried to bring Oz back with occult activities and it never worked. I thought that if I kept trying and trying, I'd at least be able to talk to him. I-- now I can't stop. Especially now that he is back. I guess it's the only thing that I've put enough faith in to make me feel powerful."
Power wasn't exactly what she aspired for, now that she thought of it. All she wanted was to feel independent.
