concept sketches for a new OC of mine based on the following conversation I had with my mom before I went to see (and be thoroughly disappointed by) He-Man in theaters:
Me: I'm pretty sure they gave Adam a desk job solely for the visual gag of He-Man having a nameplate with pronouns on it.
Mom: lemme guess. they/them?
Me: I think you're confusing He-Man for his and She-Ra's long lost triplet sibling, They-Trix
Soooooo here is their design so far!
I haven't really decided on any kind of lore yet, except that they weild dual sickles with matching stones suspended between the curv of the blades. the swords are bracelets with red stones on them when detransformed. as for bonus sword powers, they can form force fields of any size for any duration as long as They-Trix's magic is strong enough. They-Trix fights for the Magic of Greyskull, which is also the trigger phrase for their transformation. In civillian form, they're Adrien, but I haven't decided on a backstory quite yet bc I like the She-Ra 2018 whole thing of "princess means a different thing there, Adora wasn't literally born into royalty". They have crescent and star motifs in their design, bc apparently I can't just not give characters a celestial vibe, and if I ever get around to iterating further I'll try and make those more apparant. I also tried to incorporate asymmetry and the number 2 a few times, it just kind of felt right. I feel like Adrien ended up with a kind of goth-y vibe that I rlly like as well! Another power of the swords is that they are magnetically drawn towards fatal weak spots on any foe, regardless of how severe. Adrien tries to keep the swords in check, but they're also pretty reckless in comparison to their (yet uninvented) travel companions, so that effort goes pretty unnoticed most of the time, and the stones' ruthlessness is often chalked up to Adrienn's temper. Maybe whenever Adrien learns to "get along with" the stones more, they unlock a power-up and in addition to force fields gets the power of like, a DnD paladin aura of some kind.
