Let’s go the Notch Higher: The Greater Courts
This is sort of an obvious approach. Go from lowest to highest, touch up on a few of the creatures dwelling within said courts, you know, the shindig.
I’m hitting only three within the Greater Courts. This is because within these three there are tribes and clans and the like, making this one of the more complex of this system.
Elves:
Elves reside both within the Seelie and the Unseelie courts due to their mass amounts of different ideology. I like to call them the humans in the species and I tend to get more than a few rotten tomatoes my way. Elves are your many raced species that resides in many different places. Elves are a very Germanic originated species. They have stories from the Norse and from Old England and those stories tend to form the shape that is believed to be an elf. The common feature of all stories however is that they are magical, supernaturally beautiful creatures. They were told of as gods that were good at healing and great marksman or as monstrous creatures that did more harm than good.
This would have been better explained if many people knew of the Seelie and Unseelie court differences. Now while the sound of the name has changed over time it has remained the same concept and is known as such for many different cultures. The elves have their own courts and amongst these courts they have their own conflicting ideas. Some of these courts side with the Unseelie Court while other align with the Seelie Court. In either court, elves are seen as wise, snarky, romantic beings that anyone may fall in love with.
Dwarves:
Dwarves are our mountainously short friends who reside in many hallow mountains, deep within their bellies. Humans know them to be shorter, stouter versions of humans with a lot of hair and a knack for black smithing and mining. Yes they are good at those but they are also very good at different crafts such as jewelry making or even weaving. Just like elves, dwarves are Germanic in origin and have been passed down through the regions relating. Dwarves side mainly with the Seelie Court.
Dwarves separate themselves into clans. Each clan specializes is some form of crafting or mining due to their natural environment. Each clan is then split up into houses and depending on what house the dwarf is in, that is their part in the Dwarven hierarchy.
Goblins:
Goblins are seen in the Unseelie Court and are split up into tribes. While there are many different races of goblin, they all get the same thought process. Throughout history and regions they are seen as small, grotesque little creatures with evil intentions whether the actions they commit are small or not. Many of them do have magical abilities just like the fae and other creatures relating.
If I had to compare their tribes to human likeness they are like the Africa of all the continents. They have many different tribes that do not all work in sync and therefore seem quite chaotic. Each tribe has a different system though it not ranging far from the tribe before it or after. They are a wide spread species and their tribe names don't tend to be very creative.
As each of these different species is a large population factor, their influence is larger than the average fae. I’ve personally sat through each and quite frankly the traditions and customs followed have always flown over my head.
Truly yours,
