"Lin Jing Guan," Yingyue's soft voice came from behind the Cloud Knight commander. Nestled in the crook of her arm was a woven basket, filled with red and yellow dragonfruit. "I-I grow these for my lady, since they're healthy and she likes to recommend them to patients. There were too many this harvest, so... I'm giving some away."
Taking one of the yellow dragonfruits, she extended out her hand to offer it to Muyang.
"I like the yellow ones more, they're sweeter. Please enjoy it."

✦。— Her gentle voice was unmistakable, a tune that was like a soft wave that caressed his skin, a tender light casted upon him by the moon at night. It was reassuring. It was soothing. It brought him a kind of peace that proved to be dangerous— for an undeserving individual like him.
And yet, perhaps... because it was her, he found himself walking towards that warmth unknowingly.
Mellowed crimson eyes greeted Yingyue, trailing after her as she spoke of her dragonfruit harvest. It was relaxing for him to listen to her stories. These were tales that were not related to war and loss— these were much simpler, much more positive. It made him feel like a normal person, though that emotion could be as fleeting as lives on the battlefield.
And that included his.
The thoughts that dwelled within his mind soon dissipated when Yingyue eventually extended a yellow dragonfruit towards Muyang.
Ah, was this a gift for him? ...Why?
To think that she went through all that trouble, the surprise he felt peppered his expression in an obvious way. Muyang's gaze shifted between her and the fruit a few times, before hesitant gloved hands plucked the fruit off of her grasps.
A tiny smile graced upon his lips as a fond thumb brushed the surface of the fruit. A part of him wanted to ask questions, but a bigger part of him simply wanted to live in this moment, even if he was unworthy to be alive.
Just this once.
To feel something and allow it to flow through like someone that is normal. To receive a gift without being weighed down by regrets.
❝ Thank you, Lady Yingyue. ❞
He began. His tone was husky, yet warm.
❝ — Would you... like to have this together after I am done with my duties? ❞
And maybe, those regrets will eventually go... like a ripe fruit being rid of mud. Washed away by the calming waves of your love. | @everlastiingiimmortals.
