“You’ve got nowhere left to run, you petty thief!”
A tall figure stops in front of the wall, circled by the bright spotlight. He turns around slowly and raises his hands, a calculating smile playing around his lips causing Chuuya to keep his guard up. This has been too easy. After all his fruitless efforts to catch him for more than a year, everything has gone way too smoothly tonight. This smells fishy…
“Akutagawa, what about the other?”
There’s a short static in the connection.
“I’m still on his heels. He won’t get away.”
At least, the thief couldn’t count on support from his lackey. In a fair one-on-one Chuuya has the upper hand, he’s sure of it.
“Putting up a fight is futile, there’s no way you can win against me.” Chuuya only puts his gun away after he’s close enough to grab him. “I’ll take you to the headquarters.”
The thief hums a jolly tone as he lowers his hands so Chuuya can put on the handcuffs.
“I’d rather follow you to your apartment.”
Chuuya freezes, barely manages to stop himself from killing him on the spot. They need to interrogate him first.
“In your dreams.”
He grabs him with an iron grip, wonders briefly how he manages to perform all those crazy stunts with these scrawny arms before roughly pushing him into the car. The engine starts, and the car rolls off into the night.
The thief is quiet during the drive, contrary to his usual behavior. That, and the winning grin on his face are enough reason to make Chuuya’s hair stand on edge. He’ll only be able to relax and enjoy his victory once that scoundrel is locked away in a cell.
“This is where we’ll have to part ways,” the masked man says, getting up as the car suddenly stops.
“What-?!”
A soft click, and Chuuya finds his hands cuffed to the handle. When did he?!
“Fufufu. Did you really think you could foil my plans? I’m sorry, but you’re about 25 centimeters too short for that.”
“You stinky excuse of a—”
His angry tirade is cut off by chapped lips pressing against his own. His eyes grow wide, and he is unable to produce a single word, as the thief chuckles before leaning next to his ear.
“Next time, I’ll come for your heart~”
A masked man disappears in the covers of the night, leaving behind nothing but a grim detective and a mocking (love?) letter.
