It was Valentine’s day, and time to attempt a return at normality, and what better way to do that then to fall back on tradition?
True, when she was young, she’d never made Valentine Choco for her sweethearts. Mainly because she’d never been a young girl. He’d been on the receiving end a few times, and of course gave back on White Day, but the process of lovingly making chocolates for her loved ones was one she’d missed out on.
It wasn’t easy to keep the Clinic’s kitchen empty while she worked. Seemed at any given time Hanna might come in for a snack, or Charlie’d come to visit her plants and chat, or Worth might emerge from his office and swipe some of the coffee she’d brewed to flavor it. Tricky, tricky, and so she was up late, melting the milk chocolate, mixing it, pouring it, burning a little and swearing and throwing it out and starting over. By morning she was exhausted, but had managed a few gifts.
She left a few chocolate treats on a plate for Hanna and Walker, because they were good kids and who was she to deny them a snack. Tossed a few Hershey Kisses in a bag for Worth as her giri choco, then carefully wrapped the remaining treats for Charlie and Lupin. Charlie’s honmei choco consisted of several small heart molds she’d filled, along with some rose shapes she’d found. Best she could do for Charlie’s fondness of flowers. She wished the set she’d clandestinedly purchased had had a dinosaur mold in it, but of course, what Valentine’s set had dinosaurs?
Lupin’s gift was a rather larger heart, onto which she’d attempted to pipe in white chocolate a pair of hand cuffs. They were pretty malformed, and if anything looked like a bad cartoon fish, but... hopefully he wouldn’t question it.
Now she just had to deliver them.
