Im not sure if youll be about, but I got given some etizolam for my sleeping as I havent slept in days due to severe insomnia. Ive taken it a few times before after benders, but ive taken four tonight and all im getting is the floaty body feelings, chillled. Its nice but im mot sleeping. So I take another or am I just a tollerant person who shouldnt waste their time or benzos?
Etizolam is not very intoxicating compared to say Xanax. As a rule of thumb, I consider etizolam to be half as potent as Xanax. I am not sure of the exact conversion, but I'm sure it can easily be found in Bluelight's benzo megathread. It is a thienobenzodiazepine, an analog of the typical benzodiazepine profile. It seems to possess potent anti-anxiety and hypnotic effects while avoiding the strong intoxicating effect of some benzos. I only use etizolam for come downs or I use ~0.5-1 mg to potentiate kratom (obviously mixing multiple nervous system depressants is dangerous when done irresponsibly). It did not seem very recreational when I tried it alone. Combining etizolam with cannabis was nice for me, as I usually get very anxious from it. I just really don't find benzos in general to be worthwhile. I like to remain in control of my body, not blackout and conduct myself inappropriately.
As for taking more, it may increase the euphoria if you experience that on benzos. Keep in mind that at a higher dose of any drug you run a higher risk of unwanted side effects and with benzos it is the prevention of memory formation. You could also be experiencing cross-tolerance from alcohol consumption, as they both act as GABA agonists. Blacking out is not at all fun and you will loose your ability to inhibit the desire for more. This may cause you to keep taking more causing prolonged periods of amnesia.
I would not recommend the recreational use of benzos, I personally do not find the experience to be worth it. Tolerance develops very rapidly and dependency is a serious medical concern. Seizures are a very common symptom of the withdrawal. The withdrawal symptoms can be fatal in some circumstances and the same applies to alcohol. Stick to using etizolam for sleep, I find it highly useful in this regard. Taking high recreational doses will cause the loss of its hypnotic properties and will require a dosage increase to experience similar effects.
