Sunday, August 20th (about yesterday)

Yesterday, Saturday, I went to the thrift store with my very best friend and one of my younger sisters! We were mainly looking for things to cover up my friends walls, specifically he has this big empty wall in his bedroom and he wanted to fill it! We did find a gorgeous painting, huge as anything, for only 10 dollars!! That'll do nicely in his space. However I had just rearranged my entire bedroom (which I share with my two younger sisters tentatively) and I knew I had some small pockets of blankness on my walls now, nothing too huge but I'm a maximalist at heart. So while we we there I also picked up some stuff for my own bedroom! Along with a book because I couldn't help myself :)

Top left: this was an easy pick, bears are my absolute second favorite animal!

Top middle: I was so very excited to see this!!! Mary Cassatt!! One of my favorite impressionist painters, her depictions of bare womanhood really touches me, I'm happy to have her in my own domestic space

Top Right: this is really so super tiny, just a little wooden frame with an image of a quilt inside - I love it for its simplicity.

Bottom (and middle) left: this was a preserved butterfly gone wrong I believe, I love how it has the name of the butterfly right there! On a closer inspection I found that there were little bugs caught inside the preservation - they were eating the butterfly it appears? Caught in the frame, predator and prey. I think it's very unique, sort of gross but I'm also sort of gross! Plus my great grandmother (nana banana) would collect butterflies and pin them up around her apartment, in the kitchen mainly! Butterflies are a sort of crest for my family now, I hoard the imagery :)

Bottom Right: these are the sorts of Shakespeare we'd read back in highschool! I really appreciate these copies, on one page is the bare script and on the adjoining page is a list of definitions for less used old English! Very helpful for a fan like myself as I am no scholar and cannot interpret old English smoothly. I own almost every notable work of Shakespeare but somehow this classic had slipped my grasp until now!
