I love this. I've seen a lot of "thin bashing" in defense of women's right to look however their lifestyle and metabolism leads them to look - and I know I reblog it from time to time, it's mainly because I don't feel it's to offend the people it's offensive to. And i'm a curvier girl myself so I'm glad to see pictures of bigger women being proud of who they are.
But because you're speaking out against people discriminating against the way you look doesn't mean that you need to bash the way someone else looks - even if your more frequent aggressors happen to be "thin" or "fat" or whatever.
It's sad and ironic that most of the "I'm fat and I don't give a damn what you think about it" photo campaigns are so anti-thin. We all probably know someone who's tiny - eats like an elephant but in the end they're just a smaller person with a slighter build. And that's how they were born. Maybe they run everyday - people get endorphins from exercise and eating cupcakes, maybe their way of life just leads them in a different direction - resulting in a different shape.
None of us fit inside of a box, and you would be hard pressed to find two human beings on this planet of the exact same dimensions. Be who you are and be proud of it - but don't put people down to get to self-acceptance.
Also as a side note - I'd really love to see what this photo-journalist or author or whatever you'd classify her as would do with the male beauty myth. I love feminism, and I recognize that it should benefit men too. But we never really see much activism for the male side of the coin - they're the barely mentioned side note to feminism.
