I saw this list last night but figured I'd just answer all of them rather than asking which ones everyone wanted to know. TL;DR coming up:
1. A selection of television programs you do not care for. I think the only show that's pretty popular on tumblr that I don't really care for at all is House. Also, while I enjoy the new Sherlock stuff, I'm not crazy about it. I think I paused one of them on Netflix and didn't get back to it for two months. NBD.
2. A selection of musical artists you do not care for. I think I must be in the minority here because I don't get the hype around Kanye. His stuff just never clicked for me. Though I only really listen to my iPod, Pandora, Spotify and NPR now, so really anything on the pop stations is going to confuse me and make me feel like an old. Whatever, get off my lawn
3. A selection of celebrities you couldn’t care less about. All of them? I guess I should just say that if you're talking/blogging reality stars, I'm going to be lost.
4. A hobby you “don’t get”. I think I have trouble with this question because I kinda get the appeal behind any hobby. For a lot of people it's a time to get with other people while doing an activity, while for others it's a time for self meditation while mastering some sort of craft or whatever. I have anxiety issues so it makes sense to me. Though I suppose fishing has always troubled me. I've been out on boats for the day and I know it's relaxing, but the logistics minded person in me can never get past the fact that there are a lot of procedures involved once we return to shore. Gotta unload the boat, get the truck, attach it to the trailer in peak traffice. Get the boat to its garage etc.. The effort there outweighs the relaxing for me.
5. A habit you find disgusting. Chewing tobacco. I have a few family members that do this and I always have to fight the urge to audibly gag every time. A habit that I'm still trying to kick is nail biting. I do it without realizing I'm doing it. I make sure to wash my hands as often as possible, but I know there are several times a week I'm shaking someones hand with recently bitten fingernails. :(
6. Something in school you really liked doing that everyone else bitched over. Worksheets!! Yes, they were tedious and didn't really teach much of anything, but dammit I was good at that shit and it helped me in a different way. I've always been an introvert, but being fast and good at this allowed me to let other kids cheat off me. I'd say a fair amount of my friendships were borne from me allowing them access to my homework. Then I could talk to them and then we'd get along. That's the deal.
7. Your favorite household chore. Vacuuming. I just zone out and move back and forth.
8. Popular video games that make you go “meh”. World of Warcraft and the Sims. Though, to be fair the only games I really got into were the Starcraft games.
9. PC or MAC? PC. I'm not capable of using the mac's to their potential. I'm not the creative type, so I can't really justify the expense.
10. A sport you don’t like, for whatever reason. Golf. I am amazed when I watch good people play, but I just don't have the patience for it. I don't want to spend 5 hours on something that probably has about 3 minutes worth of activity. Though, having worked a couple of golf tournament fundraisers I can say that the drinking afterward is fantastic.
11. A sport you really like, for whatever reason. Soccer. This and baseball were probably the only sports I was ever good at, but I had much more fun playing soccer. I got to run around and play at a top level even as an undersized guy.
12. Television programs you love but have gotten shit for liking. Really only one. iCarly. I watched it at a friend's place because she has a young son and I just really enjoyed it. The brother is goofy and the best friends are great. It reminds me of the kinda cheesy stuff saved by the bell used to do. But ultimately I don't admit to too many people that I can waste an entire day watching this show.
13. Musical artists you love but have gotten shit for liking. Back in middle school and early high school the popular opinion was that you had to like hip hop, alternative, or pop. There wasn't supposed to be mixing. I was mostly into the early 90's rock even though it was late 90's by that point so my group of friends gave me shit for liking Outkast during the Stankonia days. Sorry I'm not sorry. Mostly after that I just didn't give a shit what people said about my music tastes. I guess the only band that I enjoy that gets made fun of now is Coldplay. Say what you want to say about them but their performance as the closing act of ACL 2005 was pretty awesome. Not as good as Arcade Fire from earlier in the day (which Chris Martin readily admitted onstage) but pretty good.
14. A hobby you have/find interesting that other people bother you over/make fun of. Well it fits right in here on Tumblr, but my deep interest in politics and the government puzzles a lot of my irl friends. While I was a poli sci student in college, most of my friends were business, natural sciences, or engineers who just didn't seem to care all that much about elections or what the governing bodies were up to. So I was the activist of the group who was always trying to get them involved. They would just shrug it off.
15. A habit you have that other people bug you over. I'm the guy that never finishes food or drinks. When there's a little bit of coffee left I won't take it. The last bit of milk, not for me. And it's not because I don't want it or I'm too lazy to replace it, I just feel too guilty to take the last of anything. Like, I don't feel worthy of being the one who gets the last of the good thing. I know several people who find this annoying.
16. Something in school you hating doing and it felt like everyone else loved. Group work. Just let me do it myself. We can talk afterward.
17. The household chore that makes you want to shoot your own face off. Washing the bathtub. It just hurts my back and annoys me. It's not overly difficult or anything, I just don't like it.
18. A selection of video games that you enjoy that perhaps you really shouldn’t. Hmm.. There was this game called Rumble Racing that my roomate had in college that I just couldn't stop playing for a few months. It wasn't a very impressive game, just addicting.
19. A celebrity crush that maybe even you don’t understand. I'm pretty sure I can explain all of them. It's either physical, intellectual, or some combination that I like. I will say that I was once convinced that Christina Ricci would fall in love with me if I could just meet her somehow. Oh well. I'll just sit here silently rooting for her divorce (not really. but if it happens. . .)
20. Free rant on whatever grinds your gears at the moment. As an INTJ, part of the reason I remain introverted and don't post much is because I really don't like discussing issues I'm not fully aware of. This is why I love reading. But sometimes I just see other people or blogs who have something to say about every goddamn thing and it makes me want to scream. I personally try to make sure I'm only contributing if I think I'm adding value the conversation and not detracting from it and I recognize that it is a mistake to try and hold other people to the same standards I hold myself.
