Gross. I intentionally took Confessions with Lange and Marga, because I'd vomit if I had to parrot that Wrath of God crap that Paulson peddles. I have no advice for you except keep plowing through -- only four weeks of class left. <3
Too true! I wish I could have taken it with Marga. Or better yet, I wish I could have just read through the Book of Concord on my own and kept the $1,500 in tuition!

I understand. I think Luther was a good guy with some good ideas. (I was raised in holiness movement denominations, so his “salvation through grace” thing kind of blew my mind and changed me.) But he’s still only one guy - and one imperfect guy.
I totally understand that. I was raised in a tradition closer to the Calvinist doctrine of total depravity (which is why I still have so much trouble with the idea of Original Sin). The idea that faith comes from God, and isn't something we have to work up in ourselves, pretty much blew MY mind! But yeah, he's just one human. I'm getting to the point where I don't mind being called a "cafeteria Christian," because I think picking and choosing isn't necessarily a bad thing when you're sorting out human ideas about an infinite being. There's a lot to be said for critique and the testing of different theories, rather than settling on something just because the Church at large has declared it correct.
(And isn't that what Luther did in the first place? Darn it, maybe this tradition really is for me. :-)
